Day 12 of my fast and a big benchmark day for me having lost 20lb + since I began. I've taken to wearing a favorite sweatshirt at home that is signifigant to me. I bought it in 2014 during happier times. I was 220lb at the time, my lowest in many years. And I was on a 1 month trip to Hawaii which if not for the explosion of my 32 year career, would have become my home away from home. When I bought it it I bought it oversize, almost like I knew I would gain weight again, sadly. Now, as recently as Feb I filled it out at 283 lb. Today, at 40lb less it hangs on my frame again. And, I still dream of at least being able to visit Hawaii again.

Anyway...moving on. last 2 mornings I've woken up with my dryest mouth ever. Yet, when I pee I don't seem to be dehydrated. I'm not concerned. Just curious. I forgot to mention in post entry yesterday regarding things I've dropped, that I also switched to straight warm water, dropping the herbal teas. (i had bought a variety trying to find something I loved the taste of. None really did a thing for me but I hate tap water. So I bought bottled water. Although I don't love water, tolerable. I'll probably try a squeeze of lemon juice in it. Won't hurt.

Main thing I wanted to talk about today is Autophagy, sometimes called Eating of Ones Self in days gone by as the process of fasting causes a wonderful phenomena of your body disgarding old, even diseased cells and replacing with new. It also has a huge side benefit of helping your skin, during even massive weight loss to retain more tightness. Remember how on The Biggest Loser how many of the people who lost weight looked like they wore a body suit? Well if you didn't know, they did wear a Spanx like outfit under because while they lost massive weight, it did little to tighten their skin. Me? I'm doing everything I can to tighten my skin. by the way any length of fasting introduces Autophagy but the longer the fast the bigger the benefits. Its why many people have made fasting whether it be intermitent or extended, a regular part of their lives. That is my intent.

I had an interesting test thrown at me by my daughter for Easter Sunday. (not intentionally) But she sent me a pic and offered to bring me Easter dinner. The pic included cheesy scallop potatoes, ham with pineapple rings and bacon wrapped asparagus. 2 things happened...I looked at the picture with an analytical eye. For a keto diet, what would I eat? Bacon wrapped asparagus. Great idea. the rest of it? Not for the new me! I love cheesy potatoes of any kind, but it didn't give me any craving seeing it, as it would have less than 2 weeks ago. As someone said in an article I read yesterday, all the "bad" food in their fridge just looks like cardboard to them. I won't go that far, but when I do eat carbs after this, I want it to be carbs I really feel are a rewarding treat vs stopping by 7-11 and grabbing a slice or 2 of pizza or mcdonalds.

So I end with the other side of 243.8. 12 days ago, 220, my next benchmark, seemed so far away. At 243.8 I can see it. Then from 220 to 200 will be my next benchmark. My goal is to do a 1 month fast. I don't know if I will get to 200 in the next 19 days or so. I expect my daily weight loss to taper off before then, but at even 1lb loss per day I should be very close to 220. At 1.5 per day, I'm under 220 and on my way to 200. So let's see what the days bring!

PS My stomach while a bit achy was better all in all yesterday. I attribute it to stripping away the teas and my PPI.
110.6 kg Lost so far: 17.3 kg.    Still to go: 19.9 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.
