moufette123's Journal, 11 Apr 20

I was very pleasantly surprised to notice this morning that I lost some weight this week! I ate pretty much the same things as last week, minus the pizza toppings. Mostly my usual breakfast (eggs/bacon/cheese or keto coffee), ground beef, sometimes Keto Chow (bought online, it reminds me of a milkshake when prepared).

I also discovered sometime last week a low-carb friendly marzipan recipe I really like! It tastes like the real thing! Really good with black or espresso coffee. I also tried the new Internet sensation - Dalgona coffee. It is fairly easy to use if you use a hand mixer or an immersion blender with the whip extension. I do NOT recommend this coffee if you're like me and don't like instant coffee! I used Taster's Choice decaf. It had such an acidic taste that I could not finish the coffee mousse. My friend (who lives with me) loved it, so it wasn't wasted.

I don't eat as many vegetables as I did pre-COVID apart from mushrooms, unfortunately. It is quite unpleasant to go to the grocery stores these days because people ignore the 2-meter/6-foot distancing rule inside the store and the arrows on the floor. And I have trouble finding frozen veggies. So I buy less items than I wish because I am trying to go fast in order to avoid people. I tend to let fresh veggies go to waste, which is why I prefer frozen veggies (but specific veggies only). Meat, mushrooms and butter are a bit easier to buy and keep longer. I receive some meat online via a subscription service, but I cannot buy my groceries online because the grocery stores offering the service are overwhelmed and have some major backlogs.

I am also irritated by the fact that people seem to be hostile towards masks in my area, including handmade ones. Even though Canada recently started recommending masks when it is hard or impossible to practice physical distancing, our health officials in Quebec still seem to have trouble with this. They say that hand washing and physical distancing are more important (true), and that masks are to be used by sick people only. Well when I go to the grocery store, people are not wearing masks (except for maybe one or two that put it only while inside the store and cannot stop putting their hands on their face, which defeats the purpose), get close to other people and cough freely without fully covering their mouth. I try not to go grocery shopping too often, but maybe I should make myself a mask next time. However, I fear that the security guard outside the store will not let me in if I cover my face. I have seen more people wearing gloves. I tried this once, and this is so impractical.

OK, enough ranting. This Saturday, the sun is shining (with some clouds) outside, but starting tomorrow, it will be raining non-stop until Wednesday! If I go outside, I will be staying in the car. Too many people on the sidewalks for my taste. Besides, we are not allowed to go very far even by car, so it might be a small ride in the city and the surrounding cities.

As I am lucky enough to still have a job, this is a long Easter weekend for me even though I work from home. I never thought I would ever say this, but part of me cannot wait to physically go back to the office! A portion of my work is easier to do in person than by phone or email. The only thing I am not looking forward to is taking the bus! Have a nice weekend everyone!

I wore a homemade mask a friend made me to the store here in Arizona and noticed a man an woman going in. Neither had masks, but as they got to the door, he pulled his scarf up to cover his nose and mouth. I tho't that was a great idea because his scarf covered more of his face than my mask with all it's gaps. Everyone seems to be aware of the 6ft distance and I felt comfortable, but still relieved to get out and to my car. I got extra cart wipes at the door and took some with me to wipe my hands and my car door, etc after shopping. I'll be 74 in Aug. I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and sometimes a touch of asthma. Plus I'm very obese! I'm with you. I love fresh veggies, but frozen are next. The store was out of frozen so I got a few canned.

Great with your news. So what is Keto friendly Marzipan? Marzipan is one of my favorite things. I have to look this one up. Maska are really coming now. Don't go into a store without one
