Orly Girl's Journal, 05 Oct 19

I've had the deep chills since the windy cold weather set in and have been craving warm winter food (think pot roast) to warm me up. Most of my food has been delicious simple fish or stir fry over vegetables the last 6 months, but this won't fix the piping hot meals I crave now.

So I used the Dash Done Slow recipe book and found a pork, fennel, apple stew and threw it together. I admit I was kind of wincing if it would taste good, but it surprised me and satisfied my need for a tasty hot meal!

I'm fighting a cold, so I alternate between chills and hot flashes! I've only eaten fresh curry raw fennel as a salad, never cooked it, but it was a delight.

I had fish 3 times this week (rainbow trout and a white fish), these meals keep me from gaining, and I've added the extra grains when I eat fish because it's so low calorie and just wouldn't fill me up without the 3/4 cup servings of quinoa.

I'm still eating about 2 to 3 cups of fresh chopped vegs as they're so fresh and cheap. I'll slowly be transitioning to typical fall root veg soon for the warmth.

So grateful I picked up these new recipe books for fall and winter fare. Dash Done Slow by Karen Frazier. I'm doing the lower carb version of the DASH DIET.
