59Carol's Journal, 06 Jul 19

This was a good week weight loss wise. I continue to average 1.3 pounds/week for the past 45 weeks which means this is the fastest weight loss over time that I have ever done! In the past I have lost 50 pounds in a year however this time I have lost according to my records which includes a few weeks before I began on this site - 58 pounds and there are still 7 more weeks to hit my one year mark!

I am leaving Monday for Edmonton (6 hour drive away)to take a two day course in Bookkeeping, then I am visiting friends for 5 days in Calgary and Drumheller, then back to Edmonton for another two day bookkeeping course and then home! I have been doing a bit of bookkeeping for my son's business but now I have been approached by another business to do their books. I decided that I needed to improve my skills and knowledge. In the fall I will be taking two more two day courses and then I should be qualified sufficiently to do the daily work for both businesses. The two businesses are paying my costs so it makes it easier for me.

This means that I won't be weighing in until July 20. We will see how I make out with the traveling and less control over food choices than I normally have.

GREAT JOB, Carol!!! Perhaps stock up on some easy things to take along to be able to make good food choices while you are away. Most hotels have a little fridge. Easy (and inexpensive) choices: String Cheese, low-carb yogurt (here in the U.S., Kroger stores have CarbMaster Yogurt, which is only 5 carbs per serving!), boiled eggs, Babybel cheeses, Protein bars, etc.

Traveling is hard, but not impossible. Sounds like a fun trip, and summer is the best time to travel in the north.

Thank you for all your support! Very good ideas Debbie. I will be staying at an Air BnB so I have an entire apartment to myself with a full kitchen. This is much less money than staying at a hotel and a lot nicer accommodations! I am going to pack my lunch for the road and will pack a lunch for each day I am in the course. While staying with friends I should be okay. The one friend is a very compliant diabetic so her choices are easy to work with and the other is not an over-eating location either. I should be able to easily go with the flow. It will be my own mindset that will trip me up so I will be preparing myself mentally that a little vacation doesn't mean that I eat like a crazy person!
