Naphthacat's Journal, 08 May 19

Increasing calories/quantity means not just a bit of extra weight, but fluid retention as well, this is very normal when adding extra in order to build some muscle. Muscle can NOT be built from nothing, nor from fat, only from extra calories and lifting.

I can see a lot of people weigh every day or even every week, and they have this kind of panic mindset -- but please don't let it bother you so much, fluctuations are totally normal, even in a weight loss journey. And if it so does make you want to overeat or "cheat days" -- seriously you're not married to a diet, you can't cheat on it -- or think there isa wagon to fall off or just say "fuck it i will eat everything" then that can also show your lifestyle choice/plan is too restrictive for you long term as well, and may be time to re-evaluate.

Consistency and sticking to your goals in a flexible, manageable for long term way, and you will always get where you want to go :)

I agree with you. Consistency does the magic till the end, a diet does it for a period. I weigh myself everyday but for me it's the average weight that counts (in a week / month) :)

Yes I think if you can keep perspective of the overall average, weighing daily doesn’t usually have a negative effect. I use an app called true weight which is helpful for those of us or those moment when we aren’t always able to keep that neutral perspective 😄 averages over long periods are much more important for our sanity
