Small loss, but oh so appreciated! There are a few days this week I over ate, but I’m glad to see that exercise has helped keep the damage at bay. Lots of stressors this week with our two sons. They are a hella lot of crazy individually; put them together and they blow the mind! We adopted the two brothers from Russia 18 years ago when they were two and four and our biological daughters were 12 and 13. Our daughters are 11 months apart and were born while I was still in college, and we could only afford two! So years later when we could afford more and our two daughters were bugging us to “have little brothers“, we were led to adopt the boys. It was a total God thing and it only took 5 1/2 months from start to finish! And since we had already done the baby thing twice (and most people want babies), we wanted older kids. The boys had been taken from the home due to abuse and neglect, and we definitely expected problems. But nothing prepared as for the nine separate diagnoses the boys would each be diagnosed with over the course of 14 years. We were able to move them into a supported apartment last February. Suffice it to say their disabilities and choices have led to them being evicted on Tuesday and one of the sons being hospitalized (again) at our local psychiatric hospital last night. When this last episode started on Tuesday my husband ‘s response (among other unprintable things) was to order pizza. And if I hadn’t been in a good place because of you all and reading lots of posts, I would have gone along with it. I really wanted to. And I wanted a turtle sundae from Culver’s Frozen Custard, too. And anything else that was bad for you. Why, when I’m feeling bad, do I want to make it worse and do everything that I logically know is bad for me? I used to just drink too much, but that had to stop and I haven’t drank since August, 1998. So instead I eat too much and drown my sorrows that way. Carbs and sugar—ongoing addictions. So anyway, we didn’t order pizza, but still didn’t eat the best this week, and I am really grateful for this quarter of a pound loss. And for FS and you all. Here’s to not giving up. 🎈🎈🎈
