Nanofgoat's Journal, 12 Feb 19

First day trying beef & butter fast. Gained 1 pound weighing in at 218. FBS 208. Last night at 10:00 , I tested at 128. What happened? Yesterday’s macros were 1% carb, 78% fat, 21% protein. Total net carbs were 3 (my goal is under 20). Total calories were 1244 (goal is 1338). Will stick with plan, but I am tweaking. Instead of 1 cup for first meal, I am reducing portion to 3/4 cup and second meal remains at 1/2 cup for a total of 1098 calories. Moving forward, hoping for better results tomorrow!

I always have that 'what happened' reaction when bs spikes too. It has to be more than just the food esp when it was the same as the day before. Maddening isn't it?

What is butter beef coffee?

Butter beef coffee is just the name I gave this coffee recipe I use when I am doing this beef & butter fast. It’s just for convenience so I don’t have to enter in my food journal each ingredient every time I drink this particular coffee. I use many different coffee recipes that I use for different reasons. I named it butter beef coffee because this recipe works well with my beef & butter fast. It is simply, 8 oz strong brewed coffee, 1 TB butter, 1 TB coconut oil, 1 tsp cinnamon (lowers blood sugar & tastes great) & 4 drops of liquid Stevia. I’ve never tried this fast before, so this is another experiment. I’ve had such a bad few weeks that I wanted to try to kick start my metabolism for 4 days to get back on track. This my second day and I’m not having any problems. Two more days to go and I will evaluate whether or not this extreme manipulation is worth the effort.

Thanks for the explanation. My imagination took me to odd places.

Every time I think I have this blood sugar thing figured out, I end up going back to the drawing board! But I am having success! I’ve weaned off a natural supplement that I have been taking for a couple of years now and have maintained fairly steady levels. At the rate I’m at right now, I can conceivably see myself having a conversation with my doctor to reduce my prescription meds. So that’s good! And as of Friday, carbs/veggies, will be back in my meal plans!

That sounds like great progress.

Probably it is just water retention, and it takes more than one day to lose weight too. You have to trust the process and be patient.
