newgrl's Journal, 11 Feb 19

I'm here for my 2 week weigh in. Seems to be going fine, sorta steady-but-sure. Managed to lose the 2 lbs a week I've been trying to and without too much hand-wringing. Super Bowl Sunday is the first cheat day I've had since the beginning of January, and although the game was a snoozer, the food was awesome. I brought Korean Fried Chicken bites and made guacamole and roasted garlic hummus. My sister made queso with hamburger and chicken and dumplings. My mom brought a cheesecake and some strawberries and I managed to find some chocolate around my sister's house along with a beer or 2... or 3. It was yummy and a decent break from carefully counting. I went right back to my diet the next day with no real repercussions. I've lost over 55 lbs using FS. I couldn't be happier.

Sorry Periwink, didn't see this. Been a busy week. I used Maangchi's recipe for Korean Fried chicken. You can find it here: https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/yangnyeom-tongdak Next time, I will probably try a different one though as I didn't like her breading. I love most of her recipes though... you should check her out if you're interested in trying new things. Two of my favorite side dishes from her are Gaji Namul (steamed eggplant in a... sauce) and Doraji muchim (Bellflower root with a spicy sauce). I also like the recipes from Sue at MyKoreanKitchen.com.

That's what I do. I skip all the noodles and rice and use Splenda as a replacement for sugar, brown sugar, honey, rice syrup, etc. It's not perfect, but it works ok. Maangchi is so adorable. Have fun!
