So happy about that weight loss these days...

My period started abnormally early on Sunday (super short cycle) and I have been bleeding all week straight. And I know it is not over, it should last around 10ish days. But the most abnormal part is that my heaviest flow day was on Thursday. It has been still kind of heavy since. In the past few years, my day with the heaviest flow has gradually moved from the first, to the second, then third day of my period. But this time it was at Day 5! Ah, the joys of being a woman with fibroids...

I just hope that my weight loss is not all that blood! Nah, it's just me keeping on not eating sugar :-)

I never thought I would think that someday, but I am reconsidering my initial idea of not getting a hysterectomy. I know there are less invasive methods out there, but I already underwent a myomectomy a few years ago because I was ineligible (or is it "uneligible"? The interwebs have no definite answer) for an uterine fibroid embolization. I probably still am, as well as for endometrial ablation (not even sure they perform this one in Canada).

On the other hand, since I am already stuck with high blood pressure, I am afraid hysterectomy will lead to a faster - not necessarily immediate - menopause, and that my hypertension will worsen, due to the lack of natural hormones. And then, I will probably not want to undergo hormonal therapy, as it tends to increase high blood pressure...

Wow, what a novel! In the meantime, I am still happy because sunshine! And weekend!

I was thinking about you the other day. That does not sound good. Hope it gets better. What does you doctor recommend?

I finally got my doctor to do a hysterectomy for me at 55 after having exceedingly heavy periods since I was in my mid thirty's. Tons of fibroids :( Finally after bleeding for a year straight, even after being placed on the highest dosage of birth control, they agreed to do it. Best thing I ever did. I was already in perimenopause anyway, so it was great to get it finally over and done with.

Hi Moufette. I am 52 and used to suffer from really heavy and long periods (40days +). I had/have lots of fibroids. You will be pleased to know that they will disappear or at least shrink has your hormone levels decrease with age. I couldn't have an endometrial ablation done as my womb is the 'wrong' shape. Best thing for me 5 years ago was to be put on tranexamic acid to stop the heavy bleeding. And it works a treat. My periods are still irregular, no rhyme or reason as to when they happen anymore. But as soon as I know it will be heavy I take these tablets (but only up to 4 days) . Might be an option for you too :)
