I weigh in every two weeks, so this was a bit slow. I'm trying to lose 2 lbs. a week or so. I guess I'm pretty close. I'm just following a calorie deficit diet, but not too deficient as I'm going to be on this diet for a year and a half. I've limited myself to 1750 calories a day, but I generally eat around 1500-1600. My average for October was 1534 calories and my average so far for November is 1584.

On January 11th of this year I received a new kidney. Which is awesome, but... one of the medications I'm on is a low dose of the steriod Prednisone. This... makes me incredibly hungry. I spent the first 7 months after getting out of the hospital gaining 60 new pounds. After reaching 271 and feeling like walking and getting around was starting to get tough, I decided that enough was enough. I started my diet on August 18th.

At first I used fatsecret's recommendations for calorie intake, but found it to be far too many. They suggested I take in 2100 calories a day to lose a pound a week. First of all, I would never lose a pound a week eating that much, and secondly, even if it was true that I lost a pound a week, that would mean I would have to be on this diet for almost 3 years to get down to a fairly normal weight (shooting for 140 lbs.) I didn't want that, so I modified the calculations a bit and it seems to be working for me so far.

Here's hoping I can continue losing and stay on this for the next year. I would really like to see what I look like at 140. I haven't been that small since 7th grade and that was a hell of a long time ago.
