Does anyone have any advice on how to stop binge eating? I try so hard during the day but at night I eat so much and go over my maintenance😞. I think I might have a disorder because it’s been like this for over two weeks. I can never stick to my diet (1500 cals) and I feel so powerless to food

If you can't stick to your diet, it probably isn't realistic for you. I tried for a long time to stick to a 1200 calorie diet but I just ended up hating myself and giving up when I inevitably went over the limit. I also never lost weight because I couldn't stick to it! now that I've set a higher target for myself (~1600) it's easier for me to maintain. sometimes I go over, but I also often end up eating much under that target simply because I'm not spending every waking hour thinking about it (and hence thinking about food) because it's actually manageable with my lifestyle. What does "binge" mean to you? I ask because I had an eating disorder when I was younger. "Binge" to me meant like 2 to 3 slices of takeout pizza, but "binge" to other people meant 2 bags of chips, a jar of pickles, and half of a birthday cake! It's all relative, but one thing is always true: If you allow yourself to eat the foods you crave in moderation without beating yourself up, you crush the craving and move on. If you deny your cravings completely, you will eventually crack and binge. Basically what I'm saying is: just eat the one cookie you want now, and move on, otherwise you'll end up eating the whole box later! If you think you need professional help, seek it!

I’ve had issue with this before. I don’t mean overdoing it either, I went through a time where I was eating treats and things when my husband or the kids weren’t around so I would over eat when the opportunity came until I felt sick. My husband would always be critical and say are you sure you should be eating that if I had any treat and I was tired of it so I ate when he wasn’t around...a lot. I got on a cycle of healthy eating now because it just feels better. I like the way I feel when I eat healthy food. I find eating foods with lots of fibre and protein keep hunger at bay and I don’t get so hungry that I want to eat everything in sight. As soon as I start eating some sugary snacks or chips nothing will satisfy me and I keep going to the cupboard for something else. Just do you best to eat the veggie sticks in between meals and have a good amount of protein with each meal and I’m sure you’ll stop feeling the need to eat constantly.

Jmf2018 A binge to me is when I eat when im not hungry. So it’s very mental; I know im not hungry I just want a lot of cookies because I know I shouldn’t. I do eat junk food in moderation but lately it’s triggered me to want more and not be able to control myself.

Years of binging here. Two things that helped me stop were 1. a heart related health scare - although that was from purging that followed the binging. 2. I eat more now. I try to set realistic goals. If I eat 1000 calories for example I end up binging. But at 1500 I don't need to binge even if I am a bit hungry. There is also a third one. I started exercising regularly. The key to that was at home videos that way I didn't have any excuses to not work out. Once I worked so hard to tone up with lifting and cardio, it seemed like such a waste to throw it all away with binging. Good luck to you. Remember you and your body deserve love and care. Be kind to yourself.

Try using a small plait Bc if you put your portion in a big plait it looks so small and you add more but if u put your food in a small plait your portion will look bigger

Or put in your bowl only the food you would eat and when you are done don’t eat nothing else after a while you won’t be that hungry

make a list of the low calorie foods that you enjoy,, everyone has some,, and keep a good supply around. Then when the muchies hits at least you will be eating low cal and healthy.

Start fasting 12 or 16 hours. This way you cannot eat after your last meal, which should be dinner. Be strong; you can do it!!

Keep busy. The only nights I overeat are nights I have nothing to do. It doesn't have to be elaborate. I find even housework helps. I don't think it has to be that physical either. If I'm writing, or sorting photos or even playing video games, I'm less likely to snack and binge eat. Also, I would find 1500 extremely difficult. That's why I never try to go that low. I would rather eat a bit more and increase my activity. I binge a lot when I take in too few calories.

Mike.larosse is 1500 cals really to low? My daily maintenance is 2100 when im active so I would like to lose 1lb a week by being in a 500 calorie deficit.
