Slow-goin' here. Anyone else out there a stress/anxiety eater? I have GAD and find in periods of stress all I can do to feel better is dive into a takeout pizza or cheeseburger - which always derails my progress. Any tips for how you've overcome stress eating?? Thanks friends!

Emotional eating sucks. I’ve tried to replace it with a good walk outside or binge watching HGTV! Find something else you can replace it with.

Here's my list. 1) Workout. Hard. 2) Meditate 3) Self Fat Shaming. Nothing like my muffin top in compression shorts to inspire abstinence. 4) Disposal Therapy. Wanton stealth distruction of other's toxic treats. So gratifying! Getting in shape is selfish, I saw own that sh*t and go all in. 5) Suck it up. If you are still fat, your hunger is a lie.

GAD warrior here, I take hot baths, use heating pads, zone into my phone and/or tv, pile blankets on top of myself, take NAPS

I am a champ at stress eating. I could tell you stories. The only thing that has ever worked for me was fasting. Ironically, when I am on a day of no eating at all I don't "start" to have a "little something" to "take the edge off" and then go crazy. I have to go for a walk instead or just sit there and feel the feelings. This is why I stopped eating at all during my work days. No breakfast or lunch.

I try to acknowledge that the only reason I'm wanting to eat is stress eating. Sometimes it helps and sometimes not. It's a hard thing to overcome.

Stress itself slows down the metabolism and causes our wonderful bodies to hang on to fat - so the best thing is to root out the causes of your stress and learn how to not let them get to you. Not an easy thing ... but I used to stress about every thing under the sun... My faith over the years has radically reduced my stress levels - I have learned to rely on God and not on me... once I put my self in the "Not in charge " category - my stress dropped (family even points it out to me how they wish they could find my secret) . Any way ...it is no secret - you can tell by my group name...even this battle I gave to Him... and this same Jesus helped me quit smoking cold turkey in February (hence my extra need for dieting lol ) - He will do it for you ...or any one on this site who believes he will - Anyway - that is my strong suggestion - I cannot force anyone to make a decision they don't want to - you have free will.... I hope you find your answer ...and don't stress - Worry is like a rocking horse...you can do it all day long... and it will never get you anywhere!

Right there with ya girl! It seemed nearly impossible to stop myself before my new WOEing (Keto). One thing that helped me was only allowing myself food while I sat at the table. Which meant to munching in front of the tv.
