Finding foods that keep within my R.D.I. and help me feel satisfied is the challenge I have been working on. Empty calories are leaving my world so this has helped a lot with my mood, energy and hunger. Keeping below 1500 calories is easy enough but keeping it at 1200 calories is a huge challenge for me. I have been averaging 1.2 pounds per week which is great but I would like to put some afterburner on and see if I can get this 47 year old body to rev it up to 2.0 pounds per week. My next step is to plan out my food for the whole day and stick to it. Easter will be a free day (I will record what I do) but other then that this will be my goal for the month of April 2010. L ~ I think 1.2/week is actually a healthy rate. Not so sure you should push it, especially if you're consistently losing and pushing it would be hard for you. You don't want to set yourself up for failure, right? You and I may not be able to lose it as fast as we'd like, but such is life. We'll get there, and the real goal is to get there in a way that's healthy and long-lasting. You know what I'd suggest? Continue with the 1400 (or 1500) calories a day, but have sugar only on weekends. "Sugar" includes anything that turns to sugar in your body, as well, like bread, pasta, etc. Nothing white...except cauliflower. It's much easier to really be strict during the week if you know there will be a "reward day" at the end.

Hi Mimi, you are absolutely correct about pushing too hard and hating the process, but from my past success with losing weight I kept motivated by doing mini challenges as long as I was having fun with it. I am planning on the 1200 calories per day for the month of April because I am very curious what my menopausal body is capable of. You know I actually feel much better now that I don't have those dreaded periods:) I was freaked that it happened at age 45 but after my recent doctor appointment and acceptance I am embracing the process.TOWANDA!!

You lucky dog! I'm anxious to be period-free myself. In the last year or so, I've gone from "like clockwork" to "roll the dice!" No hot flashes or any other evidence, though, so that's good, but since I'm not planning on incubating any more fetii, I'd just as soon be rid of the inconvenience! (Hopefully that wasn't TMI.)

Yes, no inconvenient periods are something to celebrate! I am so happy to have you as my F.S. buddy to share these things with. Hormones can really effect the process! Not TMI and here is to us, "two power house women!" Instead of flashing I am striving to be one hot Mamma! TOWANDA!!!
