Johanne's Journal, 03 Feb 12

Thankfully, every day is a fresh start!

I used to say, "I'll start on Monday or I'll start after my weigh-in on Thursday." I always gave myself a grace period in which I usually overindulged or totally blew off whatever needed to be done. Thanks to this site, I start everyday as if it were the first.

Yesterday I got a big pot of chili made, a big pot of brown rice made, a fresh loaf of gluten-free bread made, and all portioned out and put up in the freezer. Today I have a pot of smoked turkey, cannellini bean cassoulet cooking up. I'll soon have my freezer restocked with the meals I need so I won't be tempted to go the easy route. I even got a little housework done yesterday and today. I'm feeling a lot happier.

I also got to bed at 9 p.m. last night, not 1 a.m. The last two days I've been on track with calories and fiber. I may just make it after all. LOL!

That sounds yummy. Sometimes I wish I had a big freezer so I could take advantage of buying in bulk more. But really with just the two of us now, it doesn't really make sense. But I found some grass fed ranches where I could buy a whole or half lamb if I had the space and I would sure love to do that.

I have a small side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. I really have to squeeze to fit things in. My DIL has pasture fed lambs. I don't get to know the little rams. They're the ones who go into the freezer. LOL! Fortunately, I can get it a package at a time from her.

Bren, I use Bush's Best Reduced Sodium Black Beans and Reduced Sodium Pintos. They are both fat free . . . beans, water and salt. I also rinse them well to get as much of the salt off as possible. It's great to be back in "plucking" order. I haven't been since Christmas. I will definitely be in bed early tonight. My DIL called a few minutes ago. I'm supposed to be at her house by 6:30 a.m. to go to an event tomorrow. Good times! Love you too!!! Our storm is headed your way. Stay dry!

Johanne - I'm so impressed I'm speechless! Do you offer lessons in organization?

Sazy, until Christmas I always had at least 3 selections in the freezer, ready anytime I was. It all kind of fell apart around then. I AM feeling happy. Big hugs!

Buffy, if you knew me you would know how funny that is. The only things organized in my life are my computer, my purse and my dressers. The rest of my house is a shambles! LOL!!! I'm in the process of trying to fix that. Have a happy weekend.

Yum, Johanne, I'm coming to your house. Pre-cooked, prepared meals...way to go. I'm glad you're feeling better.
