Feeling good and sad at the same time, good because my husband left for work and I can start up LCHF with no traps again... Sad cause well, he had to work! It's interesting that I knew I would have a hard time managing the diet plan when he was around, I would have done better if his bday wasn't celebrated this past week. It's all excuses, excuses because many of you here still stick to the plan, no matter what! I must obtain more self discipline (can I buy some at Target?) and keep and stay in control. Hopefully it is all water weight, or 60% water, 40% overdoing it!! Back on track, I will let the pounds drop off once again!!

Hey Smartygirl, thanks for the comment you made in my journal. I figured it's time I returned the favor. I see that you are about to start up a LCHF way of eating. I don't claim to be an authority, on that, as I don't know specifically which plan you'll be following. However, as I'm following the Atkins way of eating, and that's pretty close, maybe I can offer you some help with keeping to your plan. My disclaimer is: I've had so many ups and downs, over the years, that that maybe I should change my name to Yoyo, instead of ShyGuy. :-) That being said, and since I'm currently on a roll, with staying on track, maybe I can help. So, here goes. What's been working for me is: I made a commitment to myself stay focused; and I do this by planning my meals, a day ahead of time, and recording 95% of what I eat; the other 5% is stuff like Kool-aid, and minor things that I can't get exact nutritional data for, but it's always low carb. Since I cook, regularly, I've made it a habit of writing recipes, for the dishes that I come up with, and add them to my fatsecret cookbook, to make it easier to log them, as I put my meals together. It may get overwhelming at times, but I've noticed, like me, you are a prolific writer, and so should be able to handle it. How that plays out, when you have kids, and a husband to feed, I don't know, but it is an effective strategy. Planning your meals, ahead of time, also gives you the option of making changes as needed, so that you won't go over your RDI, or the amount of carbs you intend to eat. Be blessed in your efforts, and remember, we can eat an elephant, but you can only do it, one bite at a time. Good luck with yours, and begin celebrating the victories.

Aww, you're making me a little sad for you Smarty. I also totally get the challenges in following a way of eating sometimes while family and friends are around; celebrating, having fun, socializing (wine), etc....do the best you can under those circumstances...it does get easier with practice and time...there are also strategies to help keep things on track or at least not go backwards, so that your efforts at other times pay off more. Take care and have a great weekend!

I second ShyGuy's planning ahead strategy. I consider today, what I will eat tomorrow, the tomorrow morning I work out the day's meals. Before my 10:00 - 18:00 window.
