So my weight shot up , a good 7 lbs in a matter of 3 days, all my hard work from last week down the drain. It's no fun when I see it kind of fluctuate so high in a matter of a few days. That's what I get for drifting off the program and going solo for a few days. All the exhilaration I felt when I broke 220 lbs flew away with the gain. I know better, I should not have done midnight snacking on bad for you food. One good thing is that I can start again and it's not a lost cause. It really makes me rethink my relationship with food.

It can really throw you off and make you feel like crap, can't it? It happens to me, too. Now. Aunty Tessy is going to take your hand and look you in the eye and tell you forgive yourself. Yes, I know, my eyeshadow looks like crap because I tried a bright purple and it's taken me 40-odd years to figure out that I just can't wear bright purple on my eyeballs but let's ignore that. And I know my foundation is shiny as shit. But ignore that, too. So what we're going to do is forgive ourselves. You forgive me for my dreadful makeup today (because it really is bloody awful and if I can get the Galaxy to work I'll take a photo and post it) and I'll forgive you for your slip-up. We'll both start out fresh tomorrow, k? You with me, Smartygirlycutiepie?

A quick gain like that is mostly water, frustrating from a scale point of view, but no way you can gain a significant amount of fat in that short a time. Just get back to plan, drink plenty of water, and it'll come back off.

A gallon of water weighs seven pounds, and lots of things can make you retain water. Eat smart stick to your plan it'll balance out.

As others have said it's water. You'd have to overeat by more than 20,000 cals to gain that much weight. Make sure to drink plenty of water to get your body to release the excess water.

You will be fine, Smarty! Just get used to eating less. You will get adapted to it over time.

Well, as the old saying goes, you haven't failed...you've just found a new way that didn't work. Personally, I don't think it's a matter of eating less - it's a matter of eating the healthier stuff and retraining your brain about what you're going to eat and why. At least that's how it is for me. As others have said, the 7lb is surely water...but I know this isn't a see saw you want to be on. It's not fun and it's damn hard to develop sustainable habits.
