I was told not all yogurts are good

I use plain greek yogurt everyday. I usually mix it with lemon juice and vinegar and that's my salad dressing!

I love plain Fage 5% Greek yogurt with a spoonful of sugar-free vanilla or chocolate syrup. The syrup can be found on amazon.com or the coffee aisle.

Ochungirl -- a lot of commercial flavored yogurts do have a lot of sugar. I tend to stick with plain myself because I can add just the amount of sweetener (if any) that I want. It's something each person needs to assess in terms of how it fits into their diet. Sugar or not, it is a fermented food and that has benefits for your gut microbiome

Zanly - I also love it on potatoes or Mexican food as a sour cream substitute. Nice and tangy!

I love this dish! My problem is that I tend to eat much more of this than I should.

Yogurt is full of milk sugar WITHOUT adding anything. Sugar is not good for anyone trying to lose weight. Look for coconut yogurts with no added sugars. They are hard to find but best for losing weight. Eat sparingly even with them. Kefir is a better fermented dairy product than yogurt.

Good source of protein too, especially the Greek yogurt varieties. 😋

Jansmern -- there's a huge difference between natural sugar and added sugar, and even added sugar is not the end of the world in moderation. Not everyone needs to go low carb. The sugar phobia often scares people off of fruit, which is an incredibly healthy food. If avoiding even natural sugars works for you, that's your choice and I'm glad it works for you. Everyone is different, though

And I will add that coconut yogurt doesn't have the protein of dairy. Food quality is not defined by one nutrient alone

Hellllllooo SherryeB - nice yogourt ---- (I just showed up to start a fight) ---- Hold everything --- "fact" almost all foods convert to sugars in the body except for proteins or fibres - there is not thing wrong with sugars - the body runs on them. The addition of refined sugars is permitted but no recommended over a certain teaspoon count per day ---- for "real foodies" --- the recommendations for most everything mean not a thing. I take in and use refined sugar - every single day and have lost almost 70 pounds in a year!

Thanks for being on my tag-team, Jergens! 😜

Jergens & Writingwyo 😊 I eat sugar. Lot's of fruit, portion controlled desserts & yes some sugars in products like yogurt. I lost 30 lbs. 2+ years ago (that's what I wanted/ needed to lose) & have maintained the loss so far. I buy yogurt like this because I like it, it comes in an already portioned amount and it does have healthy benefits. Unsweetened, plain yogurt can be good for many uses, too.
