Happy Monday!

Crummy weather aside, I had a lovely weekend. Saturday morning brought freezing rain for our normally 3 hour drive south for the University of Michigan game. DIL#5 was supposed to meet us at our house at 7am, but was unable to make it down our road due to the ice...so we went and picked her up...just the start to our slow drive downstate. Our drive took an additional hour, but we made it down in time to have a short visit with my mom before tailgating in the rain. I am not a die hard fan, so after the tailgate lunch I took the two youngest granddaughters shopping with me while 8 other family members braved the yucky weather to watch Michigan lose the game in the 4th quarter. The girls and I brought pizza back for another tailgate meal after the game before we headed back up north. The rain had stopped and the temperature had risen enough to avoid ice, but the fog was just as dangerous. By the time we got home I was exhausted from driving a total of 8 hours and babysitting for 6 hours.

Sunday I managed to get in a 80-minute ride on my exercise bike and enjoyed a visit with DS#4. The rest of the day I just took it easy. I worked on my menu plan for the up coming holiday weekend and watched Christmas movies on TV.

Sunday I also spent some time reflecting on my lifestyle change and the effect it has on my plans for things like road trips and holidays. What things should change, what things should stay the same, and how much am I willing to give up? I still have a lot of thinking to do on the road trip plans. GoodMan and I are planning to travel for about 4 weeks and I'm just not sure where the balance of new-lifestyle vs difficult-to-plan-for-all-contingencies will end up. As far as holiday eating and exercise...I like the sound of the "three-bite-rule" someone on this site mentioned (Sorry- I can't remember where I read it). With three bites of my favorite foods I get to enjoy without deprivation and still not over-indulge. Making time for exercise will be the biggest challenge. I haven't figured that one out yet.

Speaking of exercise, it's time for me to get on my bike and get this day started!

Make your Monday mah-velous!

Glad you are safe with the ice. I wouldn't like being out in that cold rain. I'd find something warm to do as well!! It is interesting how much deciding to get healthy changes one's life in so many ways.
