♥ Awoke to a rain storm this morning. First thing I thought of is the work we did on the Reed City house yesterday. I hope the cement work we did held up and kept water out of the basement. Oh well, I won't get a chance to go back and check on it until Saturday.
I rode my exercise bike this morning for 50 minutes and then went out to the kitchen to make my breakfast. There I found a dead mouse in a mousetrap EEEeek!!! I am an adult...I held a responsible position in a professional office for many years...I raised 6 boys and efficiently dealt with many cuts, broken bones, etc...but for some reason CRITTERS CREEP ME OUT!! For a brief moment I considered taking off for the day and waiting until GoodMan gets home from work to be my Knight in Shining Armor (remove the dead mouse), but that seemed a little extreme as well as expensive (since I would probably end up shopping and/or going out to eat). So I called GoodMan and complained enough to get him laughing (I just LOVE making his day that way), then put on my big girl panties and cleaned up the mess -eeewww gross!
I rarely had to deal with anything other than a lost dog or cat when I lived in a small town, but now that we've moved out to a cabin in the woods I've been introduced to waaaaay too many woodland creatures! I have pictures of toads (numerous ones all at once) climbing up the outside of our slider - pictures from the inside of the house mind you (you see all their bellies...ugh). I have learned how to get rid of bats with no broom or blanket (I think I've removed 8 at last count). And last year I invested in what I thought would be an abundance of old-style wooden mouse traps (I bought a lot because I don't reuse...I throw them away -mouse and all), and as it turns out I will need to buy more! I have pictures from our trail cam of BEAR in our back woods...we had what I assume was a woodchuck climb on our deck and look through the slider...early last spring we had crows that would dive bomb our windows and tore out all the plants in our beautiful window boxes - twice! (very expensive plants too)...I can watch deer wander and nibble plants near the treeline. Thankfully, I have yet to personally see my first snake here, but I've been told others have seen them - particularly in the pool house and near the propane tank (I get queasy just thinking about checking on the pool pump or the tank levels!)...I expected life to be different out here, but I wasn't prepared for the parade of the animal kingdom.
As for my new healthy lifestyle, thing are going very well. I hope to start noticing some physical changes soon. I tried a new shake combination this morning. Instead of greek yogurt I thought I'd try cottage cheese...Yuck! It tastes really salty...so I checked the sodium content (not one of the things I follow usually), YIKES! I didn't even finish it...Oh, well...I won't do that again.
Tomorrow is my official weigh-in day and I think it will be encouraging. Good Thursday, everyone!
