SING WITH ME ~Towanda!

Before I saw these lyrics yesterday I always thought "Sing with me" was "Sing Women" because of the lifestyle Steven Tyler and the band led lol. I posted this today because it feels like my mood...Singing with you and Dream on, dream until your dream comes true. TOWANDA!!!!

This was one of my favorite songs by Aerosmith when I was a teenager. That and Sweet Emotion. I don't watch American Idol like I used to, but Steven Tyler is nuts! Hope you have a great day, Lisa! Thanks for sharing k8's challenge too.

Thanks happy, I in turn see your smile from your journals and appreciate it:) Coco, the 60's and 70's experimention has some interesting characters for the millienium to marvel at as it is amazing we are still dreaming on LOL. I have to put myself in that mixture and I am thankful I made it through. So today I start experimenting again with a new challenge in mind, I already made a switch and am drinking my coffee black as I once drank it:) Dream On:)

From Daily OM -The traits we notice in others, both good and bad, can be opportunities for us to understand ourselves more deeply. Most of us have probably come across the universal wisdom that the people who irritate us the most are expressing qualities that we ourselves have. This is why family members can be so vexing for so many of us—we see ourselves in them, and vice versa. This isn’t always true, of course, but when it is, it’s a real opportunity for growth if we can acknowledge it, because it is infinitely easier to change ourselves than it is to try to change another person, which is never a good idea. For example, if we have a coworker who engages in some kind of negative behavior, like complaining or trying to control everything, we can look and see if we ourselves carry those traits. We may have to look to other situations in our lives to see it, because we behave differently in different environments. Perhaps we don’t complain at work, because our coworker overdoes it, but maybe we do it with our friends. Maybe we aren’t controlling at the office, but we’re used to being in control at home, and this is why we feel so irritated not to be in control at work. Even if we look and find that we are not engaging in the same behavior that we see as negative in others, we can still learn from what we are seeing in this person. The truth is, human nature is universal, and we share many of the same tendencies. What we see in others can always help us to understand ourselves more deeply. Having the ability to see something in another person, and automatically bring this observation back to ourselves, is like having a built-in system of checks and balances that enables us to be continually engaged in self-exploration and behavior change. When we see behavior we don’t like, we can make a concerted effort to weed it out of ourselves, and when we see behavior we do like, we can let it inspire us to engage in imitation. Through this process, we read our environment and let it influence us to bring out the best in ourselves.

It is sadly true that when I see my negative traits in my daughter, it really bothers me. Mostly it has to do with complaining and refusing to believe that you can improve your situation. I hope we can change together. Thanks for the bonus thought for the day, Lisa!

How was your daughter's interview? Did you enjoy the rain? Congrats on deciding to have black coffee! Definitely want to join your challenge invitation, and will sign up tomorrow - need to weigh in at my WW meeting. Wow. Your daily OM is keeper and very timely - just had a negative experience with a close friend and colleague today which has rock bottomed me. Your piece is giving me some new options for dealing with it. Thanks Lisa for sharing the wisdom. And yes...more important than what happens around us are the dreams IN US!!! Hope you have a great evening. :)

Hi Ruby glad you enjoyed the song:) Maria, Brookes job interview went very well. She looked such the business/scientist and very pretty. I am very proud of her as she is almost a U.C.Davis graduate! The job is near home so I really wish she would get it. This lab runs test for veterinarians and the work in a lab that runs all kinds of tests and they even get work from places like Japan and Australia. The interviewer seemes very interested in her qualifications and may consider a Friday position until she graduates in June and hopefully she will be hired full time in the summer. She is working in a lab at Davis and they want to keep her so if she doesn't get a full time job she is lucky to have the job she is working now. I am glad you are seeing the incident with your colleague friend with new eyes and a different perspective. TOWANDA!!!

Lisa, your daughter's potential job sounds so interesting. She's fortunate that she already has part time work in her field while she goes to school. Research is where it's at - need lots of dedicated, brainy people finding cures for illnesses. :) Thanks for your encouraging words. Coming from a bad marriage, any negativity I encounter sets off major alarm bells for me - perhaps more painful to me than another.
