I binged yesterday -- a bunch of mindless eating of things I don't typically eat, and I wasn't quite sure why. Woke up this morning to an early visit from Aunt Flo, which definitely makes me feel a bit better about my actions yesterday.

With the additional knowledge at hand, I feel better equipped to avoid the fridge/kitchen, and to find things to distract/occupy myself from eating uselessly.


Back in October 2011, I set my goal at 147. I'm not sure anymore if I grabbed that from a BMI chart, or if that was the lower average for four of the US armed forces branches -- at the time I didn't have a GP, and really had no idea of what "healthy" looked like (I was also less inclined to appreciate NSVs, and was desperately reliant on numbers). I was also 23 pounds heavier. While I won't win any records for quick weight loss, I'm pleased and proud of my progress and having (eventually) kept the weight off. For me, its a lifestyle change and as such, it needs to be something I can stick to. I don't eat/like salads, or many of the things that are traditionally found in salads (lettuce, tomatoes, most raw vegetables -- not for lack of trying, mind you), so there was definitely a need to get a little creative with food.

Earlier this year, my GP advised for me to get to 160 and then we can reassess where my weight should be (for reference, I'm 5'8" and have more of a curvy/athletic build. Even at a healthy weight, I've never been slender). So, I guess for the moment that's what I'll aim for, see how that feels when I get there.
