-27 degrees c. This is crazy. I can count on 1 hand the number of days above freezing since Nov. 2013!! I'm really looking forward to spring and I'm happy Easter is late this year. There might be opportunity to hide eggs outside in three weeks time, but not anytime yet at this rate. (it feels good to vent so bear with me). I'll be getting out that green spray paint and painting the grass green along with Lynn.

I started reading the book "Wheat belly" yesterday. Interesting. This seems so appropriate for my situation. Since eliminating wheat, I've been loosing weight quickly. Not sure about the science behind this, but it sure seems to be working. Amazing. I'll keep you posted.

I'm grateful for all the fantastic suggestions people make on FS and the support and encouragement. I'm also grateful that spring will eventually come even though it seems to be avoiding this part of the world this year. Have a fantastic day.

Good morning. Drop by my place - all nice and green NOT! I bought the wheat belly cookbook and made the pancakes this morning. DH unimpressed, but I loved them - just a little grainy, but very nice. I'm a farmer's daughter so understand the GMO and have to agree with wheatbelly that Monsanto is evil (My opinion). I went to the new bulkbarn (Grant and Kenaston) yesterday and picked up chickpea flour, golden flaxseed, and many other ingredients that wheat belly has. I also found red fyfe wheat flour there - an ancient wheat which I think is not GMO. I'm going to try and bake some bread with it. I think you have to make up your own mind about how much you believe in wheat belly, but there are many valid points and truths in there regarding the agricultural community. It really is time we as the human race take charge of what we ingest and what we buy. For me, it's not just eliminating (or reducing) wheat, but also, concentrating on low GI foods, no potatoes, no rice, no sugar. The no sugar issue brings it's own set of problems though. How do you choose a sugar replacement, or do you? My taste buds don't really care for any of them, I've tried xylitol, stevia, truvia, sucralose. I really try to steer clear of all of them and only use in baking if possible. Anywho... have a great "cold" and "sunny" day in the Peg!

Update on the Red Fife Wheat - turns out it is a whole grain wheat so bit heavy to use on its own. Oh well.
