I’m stuck even with good compliance and moderate exercise. Can’t go to gym these days due to COVID lockdown but am walking between 8000 and 10000 steps a day. Not sure what the problem is. Has anyone heard of or is practicing Keyo cycling?

I guess the brute-force answer is to try to reduce your calories a bit. But there are so many factors — hormones, overall metabolism, exercise, diet sustainability — that keto cycling might be worth a try. Seems to work for some, at least anecdotally. I'll never be disciplined enough for any kind of keto diet, but I admire those who are, and I wish you luck. Here are a couple of links. How long have you been “stuck”?

Before you break your body out ketosis maybe try an egg fast - that might be enough to jolt your body out of the plateau. I say this because I know how hard it is to get into ketosis after coming off it, especially after a long time on it. I have done keto cycling and I did not find it effective. Also, my high carb "days" would turn into weeks of binging. If you are very disciplined perhaps that's won't be an issue

I have been doing Keto for almost 5 years. Personally, I have found when my carbs go up, my hunger and cravings do too. And then I binge for months (ahem, more like a year or two *blush*). Many times, a plateau is your body readjusting itself, healing and preparing for the next round. It's like expecting to run a marathon on the first day of starting a new exercise regime. You'll hit a wall and need a rest. Well, it's the same thing for your body. As I've gotten older, my weight doesn't flush off as easily as it used to... peeves me off, but *sigh* that's part of aging. Egg fasts can work, I've done several over the years. Many people can't handle only eating eggs and fat. I've been able to go as long as 7 days, but OMG it was dull and tedious. Other issues might be: stress, or eating too much protein, dairy or even sugar substitutes can cause slow-downs. Good luck.

Same with me, I am stuck😝😝, I am trying low carb & no sugar but it’s hard for me, I love my biscottis & warm baguette with olive oil 😋

Sounds like me...carbs lead to binge for months and regaining everything (the familiar yoyo). Currently on egg fast day five (stomach thinks my throat's been cut). Age really slows everything down...plateaus are longer.

There are various egg fasts, you can find whatever is most appealing on google. The one I've done was 3 days + 2 days of transition out of "egg mode", 1200 calories (which is okay for my body). You eat primarily eggs for every single meal. Very strict egg fasters will only have eggs and the fat they are cooked with. Others allow adding cheese. It's supposed to work because egg yolks are high in choline which is essential for our bodies to metabolize fat. It worked pretty well, but after that week I didn't want to see another egg for a good long while - - and I love eggs daily for breakfast!

@edgw I've totally been there and it's frustrating as all getout. Maybe you need to just take a couple days break from your frustrations. Have you tried focusing on your self care for a couple days? Reading fun stuff, going for walks, painting, writing, playing guitar, talking to a friend? Sometimes a mental break helps me to re-focus.

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone. I recognize this is a journey, not a race. I appreciate all the support from my FS community. I actually recorded a drop today. The first one of significance in almost a month so I’m doing a happy dance. Cheers
