FullaBella's Journal, 09 Sep 13

I'm tired today but it's expected with working all weekend. With this month's schedule I won't have a 'day off' until Oct 6th. Two more weekend trade shows, a downtown festival and the DH's birthday will all occur between now and then. Quite the challenging month especially as it's all a slippery slope into the holidays. So I definitely need to grab my rest in between whenever possible.

Two really nice compliments on the 'new & improved' me from colleagues this weekend. Well, three if you count the guy who said 'I didn't recognize you looking... so....young....' Nice recovery, Bob.

One interesting 'you need to slow down now, you're getting too thin' (at 176? I don't think so but thank you anyway) and a nice compliment that included 'you look great.. not that you looked bad before but you look much healthier' (saving me the 'sorry I was such a train wreck before' tongue biting.)

My response to the 'slow down' commenter was 'not to worry - I've either plateaued or hit my set point because the scale hasn't moved in over a month but thank you for your concern.' Earl is also a physician so once again, it's intriguing that if he knew my 'scale' number but never met me he'd label me obese but in person without the stats he thinks I'm 'too thin'.

Thank you all for the nice comments and compliments on the photo's of my back yard in the previous couple of journals. Yes, that is indeed my sanctuary of serenity; it was nice to get back out there for an hour this morning before I opened the shop.

However, here's another compelling argument for garden clogs: the weed whacker. Yep, I shredded my left foot this morning. Plastic flip flops are no match for a brush hog. I'd post a picture but no one needs to see that.

Unlike those cowboy's on Roy Roger's (where Dale Evans says things like 'oh, you've been shot, I'll get you a band aid) I hopped around holding my foot ranting 'crap crap crappity crap' and wishing I had a better stunt double.

I'm stalling because it seems like there was something else I wanted to journal and mention but it escapes me. Maybe I was going to whine about my lack of sleep last night... I dunno. If it's important enough I'm sure I'll remember it eventually and return here to record it. Until then, Hi-Ho Silver... away....

Bella

It's always nice for someone to notice that you're getting healthier. I think people that see you often don't even notice. My daughters didn't notice I lost 12 pounds. Hope your foot feels better soon. Sounds like that would hurt a lot.

ugh just left you a long message that didn't take....hate that. This weekend gig thing is hard. Hope your shows are indoors. Climate control is a beautiful thing. Your church is gorgous. Oh yeah...the birthday hostess problably needs new strappy shoes and a new dress!

Hope your foot is okay Bella. Guess it makes a change from taking off the tip of your thumb (sorry, black humour there). You definitely have a busy time ahead. Hope you get some rest breaks in there. Don't know how you'll manage it but hope you do.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I actually have a very high tolerance for pain and that had me whimpering 'mommy mommy mommy' in between the cursing because I too, @Isabel, thought the same thing (about my thumb). It's much better today and likely nothing near as tragic as I whined; I just propped it up and showed it to Mushy with the warning 'now do you see why I tell you to stay BACK' because she really get's her bark on with the weed whacker, mower and vacuum sweeper. @Sharon - yes, thankfully indoors; I did one outdoors ONCE, in August, in triple digit sun beating down melting me to a puddle heat and of the few things in life I've stuck to - that 'never again' held. You have me thinking... I can't remember the last time I wore a dress... probably ... 2006... hmmm... I may have to think about that after all as DH has always said my legs were the thing that caught his eye when we first met and tells me I still have good 'gams'. @Jaqueline - yes, this is the phase where the people who see me often are accustomed so the compliments are from those who haven't seen me in a while but @Erika - my goodness, I can't imagine you've gone more than 30 seconds lately without someone complimenting you - you made such a beautiful bride and have a great killer smile... :-) Thanks again everyone.

Bella, I'm also amazed when people says I should stop losing, that I'm great like this, etc. How come a 90kg woman, with a BMI of 31 is too thin? People are funny... I hope your foot is better today.

Becca - I'm thinking you are 'big boned' like me - I used to get so confused that one of my friends wore 5 sizes larger than me but (said she) weighed less? I think .. now as I type this... maybe this is part of the reason for my distorted self image issue? The number, the one I always say I'm more than... still gets in the way. The number should 'look like this' but if it doesn't .. well, I can't wrap my head around it. Hmmm... something to ponder.

Ouchies about your poor toes and foot!! I've done that before, only with a pair of thin tennis shoes on!! And it hurt like the dickens then!!! I hope your foot is getting better quickly!! I agree about getting a dress!! I have a "house dress" that I just bought. It is a light denim cotton night gown, but it has nice pockets in it. I use it to bum around the house in the morning. I usually get dressed after my morning routine of coffee and posting on here!! I have several dresses that are for evening wear, that I haven't been able to where in ages!! Thanks sharonfrixz for the idea for a new treat!! Great on you Bella for getting the compliments!! i've already had one of the nurses at my Dr tell me she can see a loss in my weight. That was an awesome feeling!

@Puma - see, DH recommended sneakers - now I'll tell him they aren't weed whacker proof either. This is the first (and hopefully last)time I've ever done it so I'll hold off on the suit of armor for now. The weight loss for me wasn't noticeable until about 60lbs .. weird, huh? Sometimes it's something as simple as a different blouse that catches the other person's eye & they notice it. Dresses for everyone!
