I've been looking back at my calories and macros in 2015 when I first started logging and when I was actually losing. I didn't realize until now that my carbs were low and fat over 30%. I know my not working as much hurts my weight loss but now wondering about the fat content. I try to keep it close to 30% carbs 50% now but back then I never looked at the macros and with high fat % was losing every week. I dont know but wondering if anyone has in input on carbs vs fat. Which is the worse or does it just depend on the person? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think carbs is 4 calories while fat is 9. Most diets are low carbs and high fat. Which to me initially didn’t make sense. I’m not too knowledgeable on the topic. Somewhere I heard that either fat has to be low or carbs. If they both are high that’s when weight gain occurs. Not 100% sure hope this helps.

After my first quarantine pending Covid results, I was off work for 2 weeks. My next scheduled shift, work changed and I was moved to telehealth for weeks. I hardly saw the scale move. I also ate a lot of kettle cooked chips or I like to call chipsins lol and German Chocolate cake was had, but I wasn’t terrible with it at all. I was very sedentary during that time. Also on steroids for severe asthma and RA. I think try moving more to make up for the changes. Maybe try low carb 70% of the week and enjoy 30% of the week the carb laden foods you love. Friend, I’m still learning and one change I did was extra up my protein, plus I just love to be outside right now when I’m not working. 💜💚

thanks sabin and jcmama for the info. I think I'm going to go over on fat this week on purpose just to see how it affects my weight gain or loss. My calories aren't too bad for the weekly average. I had my fat 31% carbs 52% but I think I'll add some calories just to bring fat up and carbs down . I weigh every day but log only Fri. weight. I'll see how it affects my Monday weight and next Fri weigh in.

👋🏽L, I would say that everyone is certainly different and you can find what works best for you. For scientifically-based information instead of guesswork or opinion, I would check posts from successful FS members like Keyten77, Moopie321, Rosio19, Erquiaga, Atriel, LettyGaylor, and Lonniehuffman, to name a few🤙🏼

I don't know what you feel healthy as but perhaps you were too think back then. It is about healthy. As for carbs vs. fat. I do fats. Quite a lot of them and restrict my carbs... but I also eat a lot more than you I think. It is important to take care of your metabolism.

thanks liv . I just want to figure out what I'm doing wrong lol I can't seem to lose whether I eat less or more. I'm just trying to figure out why I loss back then . I havent changed my eating its about the same. I have added more calories but really low wasn't working either. The only thing I really see a difference in is where I had more fat % in macros than I do now. i figured the lower fat the better but now I'm not sure.

Fat and carbs are interchangeable for the most part. Protein can make a difference depending on how much you get. A positive difference but as long as you get a good spread of all macros you'll have the best results. You can prioritize protein and resistance training for optimal results.

As far as the difference. It could simply be that you were more active back then and/or had more lean mass which would affect your "burn".

thank you for the info Diablo. You're probably right. I'm def not as active as I was back then. Not as young either lol
