Cathedral Gorge in Panaca, NV was a cool place to hike today! Millions of years ago there was a lake here. After the lake dried up, rains washed away the silt that was at the bottom of the lake creating the gorge. The spires in the gorge are comprised of siltstone.

I'm camping in Pioche, Nevada at 6,000 feet in elevation, Rainey. The weather's awesome here! The high today will only be 88°

Did you go up the steps? Are they very old or just created to look beautifully part of the scenery?

Hi, Melissa! Yes, I did go up the steps. They were like concrete planks laid out to make the climb easier. In some places there were metal staircases, and there was even a couple small bridges along the trail. All of them were purposefully painted to blend in with the colors of the surrounding landscape. I'm not sure when they were installed, but the park originally opened in 1935. Thanks for the questions! I'm so glad you're enjoying my photos! 😊
