velvetee's Journal, 20 Nov 19

A controversial post, but I wanted to share my impressions. It kinda cracks me up, those WOE wars. To me, there are 2 aspects of nutrition. Of course, we all want results and they will differ, depending on a lot of factors. Age, health, current situation, personal goals and many more. Above relatively decent results that most aim for (again, it depends on a lot of things), there is balance and healthy eating in general, in the long term, it's not just about weight loss.

Yes, I get that if I have enough protein, I can swallow all the cabs in the world and still gain muscle and lose weight. Because I am a Greek Goddess who lifts. Owaaaa. But hell, I won't get healthier while eating Frosties combined with my protein shake EVERY SINGLE DAY, that's the point. With added vitamins, on the top, how cool. Of exceptional quality, vitamins in those Frosties, I bet. How about moderation and real nutrients?

Disclaimer, I also eat processed food from time to time, I personally prefer fats to carbs, but I don't advocate for everyday bacon bingeing either. I just enjoy it 1-2 times per week. And FWIW, I am lucky enough to be able to buy grass-fed organic meat. My blood sausage/bacon comes from a farm. So you chose your WOE, fine, but hell, accept that others have their own WOE and especially that technically eating processed carbs every f* day does not make you healthier in the long run, and without sticking studies into others' faces.

On the side note, I don't care if someone pops us and says my food is disgusting. I won't say they are ignorant, I'll just enjoy my plate as I always do. This awesome organic crispy sandwich for lunch yesterday, with smoked salmon, ricotta, tomatoes, and avocado. Skyr, granola, red currant for dessert. Then eggs, paprika, avocado, ricotta, lump eggs, tomato juice for dinner. Raspberries, almonds & a tiny tad of 80% dark chocolate. I am happy with my food. Yes, there are carbs too, hey. Burn me for your snack if you care. Have a great Wednesday!

Velvetee I support what you are saying I find there are two many self-righteous prats on this site who are to far up their arses. Paul

My point in pointing out the process meats you eat was that you can be healthy even eating processed foods. I just had bloodwork done to prove it. People eat bacon here everyday while doing keto and are getting healthier. I eat a lot of sugar every day and got healthy and am remaining healthy. I'm not sure what makes any food unhealthy in isolation. If you're getting your nutrients, protein, fiber, and have a healthy energy intake, I don't see how any one food will cause you to be unhealthy. Does it all catch up to us eventually. Will we go from perfect bloodwork to all of a sudden dropping dead?

And no, Chris is not eating 4k of nothing but cereal, how would he be getting his protein intake if so? :D And Mr. double fisting Stellas and weed smoking over here has so much room to talk. The picture of health.

D, while I agree with a lot of things that you say, there are a few that I find exasperating. You are a male in your late 30s, having exercised for at least half of your life. You've been obese, I get, but overall you've got a rather "healthy" base. Not all people can eat a piece of cake every day and be healthy, again, for different reasons. Personal, mental, hormonal, whatever. I am not saying we have to eliminate certain foods. I am saying, processed food in big quantities/on a very regular basis is not welcome for most individuals. Whatever studies you showcase, again, there will always be more value in chicken/salad/quinoa VS Frosties with added vitamins. I doubt many died from overeating broccoli unless it's due to some extremely fucked up genetic markers or mere asphyxia. On the other hand, processed carbs, that's another story. Nutritious density, PERIOD. Then up to you to manage your food to be able to integrate those lovely Frosties. Peace.

Well then you're simply biased against carbs since studies cannot persuade you. A little processed meat is no big deal but carbs, not carbs. There are plenty of people losing weight and getting healthier eating like me including DP. I could name plenty more on this site but I don't have their permission. Obviously, most can't eat as much as me, but that just comes down to a smaller allowance of energy. Who is dying from frosties? Oh, are you blaming diabetes on sugar now. Another myth.

And there are plenty of people eating huge plates of bacon, mayo covered meat, etc and I've seen you support them. I just don't see how that is healthier. It's keto though so maybe it's the bias.

Stop 🛑 I eat carbs too. I support people above all. Humans before food.

Your meals look awesome. It's a great life when we can fight about what WOE is the "correct" one when so many of us are not sure if they'll have any food at all.

Nothing disgusting that I see; looks good to me. But it could be my ignorance, I suppose.
