"Even though these were otherwise healthy young males, when we looked at their blood vessel health after consuming the glucose drink, the results looked like they might have come from someone with poor cardiovascular health," adds Little. "It was somewhat alarming."

Uh, oh. Maybe if you're doing keto, you should feel guilty about cheat days. That's scary. No dessert for hubster. :P

It was a bit alarming to read for sure. BUT 9 participants. A bigger study needed to be done and one for long term effects of cheat days on Keto. All 9 had an issue I think so that says it’s probably an issue most people would have. Hubby doesn’t plan to cheat. Nobody plans to really if they do a big cheat lol. But I think I’ll convince him to start at 50g net carbs. If he sticks with that then get some strips and see exactly how low he has to go to reach ketosis. Based on this study I’d say anyone coming off of Keto needs to do it super slow.

The good thing is that keto is irrelevant to fat loss and as long as he keeps his calories low by trying to avoid a macro, he'll lose some fat.

We are trying to see if he’s carb sensitive. Do I believe in that? Eh not really. But he’s had some health issues in the past. His family are all large, some being over 7’ tall and 300#. He’s been at 2100-2400 kcal for like 6 weeks and lost maybe a pound. All calculators put him at 2800-3300 for maintenance. I expected a loss by now with his deficit and 3x a week lifting. Not to mention that some days he stands and walks a lot. Perhaps something is helping him retain water if nothing else. Could he gain as much muscle as the fat he’s losing on the exact same amounts?? I’ve read that’s like finding a unicorn lol. He’s had his gallbladder removed as well so I don’t foresee Keto working well as fats aren’t digested well without the gallbladder (if I understood the dr correctly).

I did. Depends on if he is getting back into lifting after some time off or if he dieted for while without lifting.

Hmmm. He dieted with medifast twice a couple years ago. He was at the gym 5x a week for over a year. His partner quit so we go together 3x a week now. Upped his workout time from half hour to 45 minutes so still down about 15 minutes over all. He did lose on his bench in the months he was doing machines with me. That’s why I’m doing free weights with him now. I’m ready and he can build back up. (He tried what he was doing before and I about freaked cause I thought he wasn’t gonna get it up. I put my hand under it and that was enough for him to complete the move. Guess he didn’t want me taking any weight. Must be a guy thing haha cause I barely touched it and he found the energy.) Size wise I don’t think he’s lost any. His arms look the same. His legs are smaller but harder so he’s lost fat from there. Belly the same. A bit more definition on the back. Shoulders and pecks have grown. Pecks almost touch now when he's working out. I’m an abs and arms girl so those are what I’ve been watching for ;) lol.
