I really like words to be spelled correctly- I like correct grammar. I have a shirt that says, "I'm silently correcting your grammar." I know that is a bit much maybe and I feel bad when I wear it because it seems rude so it has become a last resort- haven't done laundry- shirt. The whole reason for writing- well-2 reasons- the 1st being that I don't want to get off the couch and take my fat ass to work so I am PROCRASTINATING... The second reason is I hate how to spell the word binging. Don't you feel like it should be bingeing? The google home mini says BINGING. To me, that rhymes with SINGING. So I plan to put an E in binging and I don't care who says it's wrong. To me it is like spelling refrigerator and then saying fridge. Maybe not exactly the same but anyhow. Deep thoughts. Happy Friday! Hitting the gym after work to make July 19th my 19th day straight- as planned until I can't go at the end of the month. I don't think anyone cares, but I am trying to make this post more relevant to this website. P.s. I have a typo in my "roller rink, learning to skate again" post and it drives me crazy. Probably will find one in here after I hit enter. 🙄😜

The error that bugs me, is posts where people say they "loose" weight instead of "lose".

Yes, gz9. Keyten, I know I'm not alone. There are 2 types of people- those who care and those who don't. LOL. Diablo is a great speller. I go to him for the hard words. I missed the word "build" in my 2nd grade spelling bee and I lost. Funny how things stay with you through the years. I better get to work. Auto correct is most definitely our foe.

Procrastination at its finest! LOL! What drives me is the incorrect use of there, their and they’re! See it all the time! Ugh.

Auto correct makes us sound more illiterate than we really might be. . I have tried shutting it off but that didn’t work. The big problem is that we are trying to type too fast. Most people are working off of a small screen phone and it is easy to miss the correct letter. People walk and text— how does that work— I can’t walk and chew gum. Toooooo much motion.

Oh gosh! I feel so exposed writing the simplest message here! I'm sure to mess something up and struggle all day with the desire to deleat the whole darn thing so my flaws are not so clearly seen. I do vote that we adopt bingeing as the correct way to communicate here about a significant "other" flaw for some of us. Princess said so!

I write for a living - where I have to worry about grammar - so when online, I don't even try to think about it else if feels like work. I just type and go...misspellings and all. Do you boo! Add that E

Errors in spelling and grammar read like wrong notes in a recital sound. Some are more noticeable, but most are noticed. Bt sm ppl dnt kr.

I am a bad speller, bad typist, and struggle with sentence structure. I know the words but I can not spell them for the life of me. I try not to think about that trifecta as I write a journal. When I go back years later and reread them, I say to myself "what was I thinking!" LOL I feel your pain aout "bingeing". some words need reworking.

According to "Grammarly" both spellings are acceptable.

Sometimes I type too fast and leave out words. Drives me nuts when I go back and see it.

LindaGT...that's good to know. And I'm not trying to hurt feelings (I mean I don't mind hurting feelings when it's called for, but this isn't that) so don't worry about the typos. Some of my favorite people on here don't have English as a first language and I love that they are bilingual and I love reading their posts. I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable. I mean, yes... I am silently correcting your spelling, too... But who cares? 🤣. My whole point is bingeing and binging. Rules for English are crazy. Other pet peeve is bad driving. There was a bumper sticker that said, "If I just passed you on the right, your dumb." I loved the idea of the bumper sticker... But all I could think was...No- YOU'RE dumb. Lol

An occasional slip up is inconsequential, it's the people that don't even try that bug me.

Interesting :) I am a grammarnazi too, regardless the language I use. I love English, it’s way simpler than French in my eyes.

I do words for a living and I work with people that don't and want quick turnaround on everything. It makes me nuts, but the 80/20 solution helped me learn to move through a lot of it. My intentional lack of capitalization you see on my phone posts is my personal way of lashing out at my own stress over this.

I am glad to read that I am not the only one.

I'm write there with you, LOL (yes, right there with you). I agree. It's also maddening that despite the ## of keto followers here, FS still highlights it as spelled incorrectly.

I hate the misuse of your vs you're; lose vs loose; and as for auto correct I wish I could teach my phone I never wish people would go duck themselves.

Keyten... At the risk of sounding stupid...was that really your winning word in the spelling bee? Velvetee...I love all your languages. I read your profile (or tried to) and have been drawn to you and your French speaking self ever since. Seems so fancy. Lol. I bet French is harder than English. Or at least that's what I'm going to say. It sure looks hard. 🤓

Everyone says that English and Russian are the most difficult — I’m lucky to be able to do a smattering of Spanish.
