I would hope artificial sweeteners wouldn't be considered fattening, but I have read claims that they mimic an insulin response, etc., etc., blah blah, I've never had an issue with artificial sweeteners. As long as your kidneys and liver work you should be alright on the detox front.

YES!!!!!!!! I was a big Atkins (Paleo is the SAME thing) for a long time and now I lose weight just fine with calorie controlled diet and of course consistency ;-)

Eat more fat and fewer carbs= burn more fat BUT also store more fat. Eat more carbs and less fat equals burn less fat BUT store less fat. Net gain/loss comes down to total daily calories.
