Made the Shakshuka tonight! I followed the recipe that you posted, Keyten, except I added some shredded cheddar and didn’t have any cilantro. Did use fresh parsley from our garden. This was so easy to make; thanks, Keyten for the wonderful suggestion! 🥰

Thank you—it was. Keyten’s always putting out the best ideas. I would’ve never thought of it if it wasn’t for her post. 😊🎈

So do we poach the eggs in the pan? That’s what it looks like. I wanted to ask Keyten the other day and forgot

You’re right, JC. After cracking the egg into the “holes” in the tomatoes, I salted and peppered them all and put the lid on the pan. I set the timer for 6 minutes, but by the time I let the cheddar melt and sprinkled the parsley, the eggs probably cooked for 8 or 9 minutes. When we scooped them into our pasta bowls, the yolks were pretty solid. So if you like them runny, I’d probably go for 5 minutes in the pan and scoop them out right away. We have an electric stove top, and I had the burner set on “5” once the tomatoes started simmering.

I have never heard of the word dippy applied to eggs. A first

Thanks, Key! You made my day! And I’ve cracked eggs with one hand since I don’t know when. One of the eggs looked like it was bad, but it was already in the sauce and I was lazy and just left it (we didn’t eat that one). This is why my mom told me to “always crack each egg by itself in a dish or cup first”—but I like to live dangerously and just crack ‘em right in whatever I’m making! 🤣 We didn’t have anything with it this time b/c we just wanted to see how it was. But next time some rice, or pita bread—or Becc@‘s husband’s bread—would make it even better. Thanks, again, for the idea, and I’m glad you liked the movie! 😊💖

And I’ve always loved “dippy” eggs—I eat mine “sunny-side up” or “over easy” so I can sop up all that yolk with buttered toast. Mmmmmm!🤤 (they need more “drool” emojis available, too!)
