Monday- 3 kcal surplus
Tuesday- 300+ kcal deficit
Wednesday- should be 500+ deficit

I see a problem here. Do I make up yesterday’s deficit? Just today’s! I’m having a real problem eating right now because I like the deficit. Not that afraid of gaining weight as I know it’ll be half muscle but I’m emotionally happy with my current weekly deficit when I should be at a surplus. Everyone is in bed so if I eat I’m stuck with quick processed foods or a banana. Any cooking or banging will wake up the kids. They need their sleep after two nights of storms and the youngest constantly waking up at every noise (she loves rain but thunder at night scares her). I’d have loved to have 2 snickers to even it out for today but I know I shouldn’t. Tempted to grab some chips and cheese. That would be a quick 400 kcal. I’ll eat to at least what I burned today I think but the choices are limited. I can make up some tomorrow because the school is selling pizza for a fundraiser. I have to support the school right?? Lol. Tempted to grab a root beer too because that’s a fast easy 160 calories. So I’ll sit here and try to find a healthy choice to eat along with my snickers :). What a problem to have lol. A few months ago I’d have been thrilled to need the calories lol.

But I got no suggestions. It looks like you got plenty of protein so your muscles should grow, no? I know "they" say you can't gain muscle while in a deficit. I don't understand why and haven't looked into any studies on the subject. I'll let the big boys give you advice on this.

It’s easy to be on a deficit nothing will go wrong. I’m not on a surplus and never plan to be maintenance is goal, maintenance plus enjoyment of gatherings. If I don’t gain muscle I’m ok

I only want to look toned...I think my toned can be achieved with maintenance n enjoyments here and there

@Rosio, I want muscle first then strength then toned. I’m currently measuring progress on strength by trying to pick up the hubby. When we got married I could lift him straight up a few inches and if he bent over my shoulder I could carry him like a sack of potatoes for a couple steps. I can lift him on his tippy toes but no further yet. I was also 21 then and 38 now so I may not reach that goal as he continues to build muscle. @LZ, lol I don’t think I could have a 3k surplus. Maybe if I ate out three meals a day and threw in a few snickers for good measure but that never happens. @Chris, thanks! I won’t worry if I’m close to maintenance then. Some days it’s easy to eat 200+ surplus and others I’m just not feeling it and struggle to get in 1500 (what my maintenance should be I think). I tend to save calories when I can in the hopes of having a snickers before bedtime. I swear I’m addicted to the things now. It’s hard when it’s 11pm and you realize you need at least 500 calories to round out the day lol. The chips and cheese last night followed by the snickers is probably why I’m up on the scale today. Don’t really care though as it was yummy!
