Stay strong. Stay strong. Went to grab a protein shake and realized it’s the last one in the fridge. Looked in the cabinet for more and guess what I found? Let’s just say I could almost taste the rainbow. So far I haven’t yet! Let’s see how the night plays out shall we :). Who will win? For now it’s the caramel shake, my jaw buster and my coffee. Why oh why doesn’t coffee wake me up lately?? Guess it’s nice that I can have it at night and know I will still get to sleep quickly.

It's nice to have variety :) Coffee never did wake me up. I never knew what people were talking about until I pretty much cut it out of my life for a long time, then sort of OD one day for some reason. Then I was like, 'Oh! That's what they're talking about!'

I actually haven’t been to bed yet. I’m a night owl lol. My usual bedtime is between midnight and 3am hopefully with a nap later in the day. Tonight I’m getting caught up on a few things or I’d be in bed because I am super tired despite the coffee. Plus I keep taking time to do stretches hoping I won’t stiffen up and be sore tomorrow. Once again I decided to up the weights but varied it... sometimes higher weights and the end and sometimes at the beginning. Then the hubby started teasing me so of course I had to do 40# on triceps rather than the normal 30-32.5 and I always throw in a few leg press at the end. On that one I thought my max was about 200 maybe 220. Nope! Hubby jokingly said he thought I could do a single press of 320. I did 5!! Now of course he says that’s my new weight as it’ll grow leg muscles faster. Upper body still sore from M&W so I know I’ll be sore tomorrow. He keeps telling me it’ll get to where I’m never sore. I think he’s lying lol.🤥 Willing to try if I can gain some fast muscle. Need to see some progress or I get down about it. Especially since I’ve noticed a softening of the tummy since last month. Grrr

LZ never had an issue. I’ve always had coke though. And I mean always lol. Anywhere from 1-6 cans a day since I was 12 and I’m 38. I started on Coke Zero but it still has caffeine. As of the last few months I only have a couple a week and some weeks I have none. Thought that would help with the coffee caffeine but it doesn’t. Of course I also only add a teaspoon of coffee per cup of water. I can’t stand adding what they say to and I water down gas station coffee with half water, 3-4 Splenda for the medium size and usually 3 tsp of creamer just to make it where I can drink it without gagging lol. Went to Starbucks for the first time ever and it did nothing for me. Wanted to ask for just a shot glass of espresso and see what that does lol. Oddly enough, a candy bar will usually help of a morning but not the rest of the day. I think the sugar is what wakes me up. I started my day with a coke and pop tarts or a honey bun for probably 10-15 years when I would eat. Otherwise just a coke. Heck the coke was from age 11 up until last year lol (27 years). Maybe my body is just too used to it.

Wow, that is great, coffee keeps me awake and I can't function if I don't sleep enough at night. 👿👹👽

Coffee doesn't wake me up or keep me awake either. But, one time, I drank about six cups of high-test on an empty stomach and felt like I was on speed! (Not that I have *any* experience with amphetamines, but it must be something like that feeling of your nerves coming out your finger nails!)

Chris, when I’m tired carbs don’t really help unless it’s sugar. When I’m hungry and need energy, not not actually tired as in sleepy, a sandwich will do it. I eat Sara Lee multi grain 45 kcal bread now. I haven noticed a difference over white bread other than the calories which is enough to have me buying it weekly. I refuse to buy any other sandwich bread and the kids finally quit complaining lol. Hubby asked me to buy it for him. Don’t think it helps him much to save 200 kcal a day when he eats 3000+ but 🤷‍♀️. He’s working out three times a week and eating the same amount and not losing weight but gaining muscle so it must be working for him. (He’s lost about 20# total this last year or so... need to point out that it’s half of what I lost. I lost 25% and he lost like 8% lol. It’s a competition he conveniently forgot about since I won hehe. )

I’d think caffeine would affect me now that I’m down to a couple a week over up to 6 a day with 3 being my normal day a year ago. Should’ve just cut that out and I’d have lost weight lol. As for fast muscle... that’s like an oxymoron or something isn’t it? I still want it though!! I do see gains in strength but again not as fast as I’d like. I’m about where I was last summer after 12 weeks of formal lifting 3x a week and 1-3 times on my own as I could for another month or so and it only took about a month to get there. I’m eating 1500-2000 now and 1200-1400 then so that’s gotta be it. Also NO cardio at the gym now when it was 1-2 hours a week. I don’t see any daily strength gains. Like lifting a bag of feed doesn’t seem easier than it was last month. Although my 20# purse does seem lighter lol.

@mira, the same! I’ve had that too energized feeling too and I don’t like it at all! I just wish caffeine would give me enough of a buzz to stay awake lol. @Keilin, sorry :/. I wish I could trade you! I feel crappy when I don’t get enough sleep but I also feel crappy when I’m tired all the time. I could even come home and go straight to bed after the gym when most people are wired after. 🤷‍♀️
