So, I wanted to share a thought with all of you today. People keep talking about their motivation. They either have tons or they have none. I am going to dare to say that I don't think motivation is the key. Now don't get me wrong. Motivation is a wonderful thing to have but there are days I JUST DON"T have any at all. But this is the key thought. On those days, I am persistent.

Can it be that persistence is what we really need? We persist even when we are not motivated? There have been a few days in the last couple of weeks that I was NOT motivated to go on my evening walk. But I persisted.

In fact, I told myself that the dog, Hirschl, and I would just show up. We would only do a half mile instead of 3. Well, wouldn't you know, once I just showed up, I did the entire 3 and didn't even feel crotchety about it.

How about if we just persist this week? Let's see where it gets us.If you are motivated as well, God bless ya! Double bonus.

What are your thoughts on this? Am I on target or way off track?

According to my BMI calculator, I am still categorized as obese. One more pound and I will be in the overweight category.

Words have power. These labels have motivated me. When I started, at my highest I was 247 and that was morbidly obese. Morbidly = Deathly.

Deathly scared me. I had high blood pressure. My joints ached. I couldn't walk a mile without gasping for air. My blood sugar was borderline for being diabetic and I got frequent headaches as well as suffering from reflux.

Currently, all of those issues have gone away and I am off ALL medications. I still have 20 more pounds to go to reach my first goal. I walked a 5K at the beginning of the month. Most days, I walk 3-5 miles with my dog but I've worked on switching up the routine to keep it interesting and to keep dropping weight.

I track everything that goes in my mouth. Even when I have a bad day and eat out of control. I take a deep breath and start again. I will have bad days for the rest of my life. I am human. But I will NOT let my weight take away my ability to participate in life any more. As I experience more and more of the good life and realise what I was missing, it keeps me motivated.

What keeps you motivated?

Stay on track and enjoy the rest of your week.
