Post-surgery and inflammation will take weeks to mostly subside so the weight is not real, but was excited to remove my compression garment and settle back into my weekly weigh-in routine all the same (and shower finally!)
MOMENT OF GRATITUDE: The two years of work getting fit continues to pay dividends through recovery. Got clearance for short walks so bundling up and going every day (hubby on point for socks and shoes 😂) and light upper-body weights so starting today. Medical team really impressed with rate of recovery and how great things are healing. Love functioning more independently daily 😁

Gaining 0.2 kg a Week

Recovery continues with a great breakfast and my gratitude journal. Mexican egg white bites, raspberry oatmeal bake, vanilla Greek yogurt and mint green tea. Feels nice to be able to cook with my sous-chef hubby doing all the reaching, bending & lifting 😊

No weight entry as I’m all bandaged up like a mummy and still swollen, BUT, it’s been 4 days since my circumferential body lift with fleur-de-lis and feel pretty good considering! I’m up and about, pacing the house like my Pop used to 😂 and managing the pain through extra strength Tylenol only at this point. Given what I feared, expected and was told, I’m doing well 👍🏻
One interesting lesson: working out matters! The fact that I’ve spent so much time strength-training means my other muscles are helping support me, speeding up my path back to mobility a lot. My arm and thigh muscles are strong, I can maneuver things like on and off the couch and toilet with much more easer than I could without having focused so much on strength training.
Had a couple of days where I had some extra snacks out of timing with medication and then out of boredom/comfort, but feeling back into a good routine today with the best diet for my needs right now based on my nerdy obsession with meal planning and batch cooking - high fibre, high protein, low sodium, hydration. Fingers crossed the incisions are healing as well as I feel 🤞
Two comments on the surgery: Confident it’s good, caught a glimpse before being discharged and could not believe how great mt stomach looked so excited to see it in post-op. The surgeon seemed cutely proud of his work 😊 Second, because I had no fat left in that area, I didn’t have any lipo done which will both help healing bc lipo is hard on the body, but also, the team removed 5 lbs of pure skin from my midsection that could never have come off any other way. Proud I was as lean and muscular as possible before having this done…I can feel good I did everything I could and no lipo needed was pretty cool 😎

After last week’s extreme loss plus some Christmas indulgence this week, mostly fine with this and know it’s not all true weight gain. After tomorrow, weigh-ins will be out while I’m recovering from surgery. Between major swelling at the start and removal of skin plus not being active, honestly have no clue where I’ll net out and that is admittedly causing me some stress. Working on it lol.
So folks, off to lower body lift in the am, 6-8 weeks of recovery. Did batch cook all my healthy, high-fibre, high-protein, low sodium meals so my hubby can easily serve me. Not used to giving up control, gonna be fun times lol
Wish me luck!

Gaining 1.4 kg a Week
24 December 2023
Well good to know my Christmas party “gain” last week wasn’t really a gain at all lol. Also been swimming and walking every day because with surgery coming up next week, I want to fit in every chance I get so burned a lot more calories I guess.
Well, if anything, I’ve given myself a little Christmas buffer…bring on Christmas dinner! 😂 🥘
TOTAL LOSS: Broke the 250 lb loss mark - before skin removal surgery too! Total = 251.4 lbs
