Whenever I go out and do a particularly hard errand, I find it hard to not use food as a reward. My thought is, "I'm already out and successfully dealt with the stressful appointment, so why not stop by my favorite store and see what the food cafe has today or grab a protein bar as a treat?"
How do other FatSecret members reward themselves after doing something they didn't want to do and had been putting off forever?
I have social anxiety, am kind of agoraphobic, and work from home -- so leaving the house is a big stressor in itself yet something I should also do as therapy in order to overcome the fear.
What can I substitute as a reward to myself instead of food for overcoming my personal battles, going out, and getting errands done?
I used to reward myself with heavy treats like ice cream and have gotten better about that since starting FatSecret -- now I typically use protein bars but to an excess, which throws off my low carb eating habits, calorie counts, and reinvigorates a craving for sweets.
I really could use some good advice and suggestions as I'm at a loss and feel like crying. If leaving the house means that I'm going to overeat unhealthily, maybe I should just stop fighting my agoraphobia and other demons and stay home -- at least then I'd be thin!

Tried to stay within my caloric budget but didn't so let's call this a cheat day. I need to stop buying protein bars because they're too much like a tempting candy bar at this point. A candy bar that also triggers gastric consequences because of its erythritol sugar alcohols. I've hid the remaining bars In the freezer but I think I need a better spot.

5 pounds lost in exactly 2 weeks from Jan. 31! I'll take it! I'm getting to know my body better: what to feed it, how much, and in what proportions -- like yesterday I overdid it on dairy and then felt bloated and probably got kicked out of ketosis. I was scared to go see a nutritionist but it has helped/will help in the long run. I'm trying to stay positive and reminding myself that this takes work and long-term commitment. :-)
