13 March 2014

13th March

After a very foggy start the sun is coming out again :) Just like yesterday. I feel like one of them daffodils that are sprouting everywhere.

I did win a little yesterday. Yes I did pick a winner :). It is so exciting. The whole place is buzzing and even when my horses didn't win, I was jumping up and down when all the horses manage to cross the line.

Eating was all over the place yesterday. Guiness in my eyes is liquid food, but weirdly made me hungry. I did enter it anyway and overall I don't think I did too bad. Too many carbs & cals, but at least I got plenty protein too. Cheltenham is only once a year.
One day I would love to arrive there in a helicopter. And on that day I will dress up. Fancy dress, hat, high heels and make-up. YES!!

Ladytimes have left the building and my digestive system has settled a bit too. Maybe guiness is good for you afterall ;)

I am itching to exercise. Not done anything proper since last friday. I know my body needed a rest and I obliged. But enough is enough!

Happy Days

11 March 2014

Lady Times have a lot to answer for!!!!
Last night I skipped Kettlebell for the the first time ever, well maybe not ever, but I made a conscious dicision not to go, as they were just too heavy :(. Instead we took a trip downtown to look at some fence panels. LB manged to dismantle the old shed in the garden and we discovered that they need replacing before we can put the greenhouse up. Afterwards I made a salad while he went on the cross trainer. Mmmmhhh Avocado.

The iron tablets I am on are causing havoc with my digestive track. Its not pleasant. I will give to the end of the week to see if things settle down, if not I need to call the doc to see if I can take something more gentle.

The weekend was amazing. My dot didn't arrive til 9pm due to the plane being delayed. Saturday the sun came out and stayed the whole weekend. I just felt happy and chilled the whole time :). We went to the aqua sana in the afternoon. They have 15 different steam rooms and saunas. Talk about feeling clean! For dinner we had an antipasti sharing plater: big chunks of ryebread with baslsamic dipping oil, ham, salami, sundried tomatoes, morzarella with pesto & peppers, olives, hummus, rice in wine leaves and an onion marmelade. The glas of prosecco went down a treat too :)

Ah I just love spending time with her :). She might be 25, but she always will be my baby.
We walked a lot too. Although it was still very flooded along the river we went exploring wearing our extra high wellies. Sunday I had to take her back to the airport and guess what? The plane was delayed again. But they had a cafe with an outdoor patio, so we sipped some green tea in the sunshine.

The last 2 days have been cold and gray again. BUT NO rain :)
Hope the sun will come out tomorrow for the horse races at Cheltenham.

I might start tracking my food for a while again. Just to make sure I really do get enough protein.

Happy Days

28 February 2014

Friday:

Nearly home time.

AND I said no to a bacon/sausage butty(baguette) today!
I was not in the mood for it, not hungry or remotely craving it. YES!

Every little helps.

I think I have just indulged a little too much, not taking into consideration if I was hungry or not. Good to stop and think first.
And sometimes such decisions are made for you. Last night after shopping we wanted to pop into the pub for a spontanious warm cajun chicken salad.
We got there and found a big sign outside: Kitchen closed until further notice, BOO.
Then again, we just had been shopping and we had plenty to make a tasty salad ourselves :)

I think I might skip the gym today. Instead I will have a date with Jillian. I did level 3 of the 30shred for the first time last sunday. Its only 20 minutes, but its a serious workout. Made me ache in places I usually don't.
Tonight we will see a play in the next village. They serve soup and dessert. You bring your own drink.

Looking forward to a lie in tomorrow!!!

Thursday 27/02/14

Last night was a mega workout! :)!

1000reps with 2 10kg bells. Although towards the end I only managed to do some exercises with 1 bell. I felt really accomplished, pleased with myself and shaky as I staggered down the stairs ;)

OBSESSED IS A WORD THE LAZY USE TO DESCRIBE THE DEDICATED

One of James quotes(although I am sure its not actually his), but it struck a cord with me. I don't think I am obsessed(well maybe a little) but more determint to do all the reps. You need a strong mind set to push through. Not past the point were you loose form and maybe injure yourself, but past that little devil that wants you to give up and take a breather.

I did a bit more research on iron levels and ferritin. Ferritin is a protein that binds iron and helps to store iron in the body. I was a bit buffled as my haemoglobin levels are fine. In a way I thought it was the same. Plenty of haemoglobin= plenty of iron. Not so.
But by strength training, using extra protein (EAAs)(hemp protein is perfect), good nutrition all round and taking iron supplement I can help my body to restore these levels.

Today is one of my rest days and I do need it!!!!

So apart from picking my car up, walking the dogs and doing the weekly shop....there isn't really much on the agenda. Looking forward to curl up infront of the roaring woodburner.

Happy Days - Life is good

26 February 2014

Ah Hump Day :)

Awesome sunshine out there and I am stuck in the office but only til 3pm. I did promise my mum to call her straight after work, so I guess I have to find a sunny corner in my garden while I chat to her.

The doc on Monday put me on an iron supplement as my ferritin levels are really low. apparently 13 is normal, I am at 5. So giving blood in March is out of the question :(. Apart from that we decided to just wait and see what is going to happen with my Lady Times. It has happened once ( the month long episode), and that might be it. I am not one for taking tablets and if I can avoid taking hormomes, I will happily do so.

My car nearly past its M.O.T. 'Only' the handbrake failed ( rear breakshoes are already replaced) and it needs 1 new tyre. Not bad for a 15 year old car with nearly 200000 miles on the clock :).

Another Kettlebell session tonight. I hope once my iron levels are up again I can get back to using the heavier weights. On Monday I had to give my 10's to LB and nick his 8kgs. After 10 minutes I was just getting to lightheaded and breathless. Booh! I like being strong. It does make me more confident, more than anything else!

9 more sleeps and than my girly is home. I really can't wait. Its only for a weekend, but it will be bliss.

There are so many other things on the agenda for this month: we are going to see a play this friday performed by the locals in the next village, on the 12th we go to Cheltenham for the horse races( and meet up with LBs brothers and drink lots of Guinness) and the following weekend we are of to London all expenses paid :)

Life is good :)
