So the past two days - first two days of my diet- were so stressful I ended up in the ER for heart palpitations. I eat when I’m stressed and so I ended up eating almost double my calorie intake plans. I don’t think the things in my life that are stressing me will go away soon so I need to commit myself to not running to food when I’m stressed. Anyone else have this problem?

I stress eat. It use to be only sweets. But proud to say 4 months without sweets . But still stress eat. It is getting better. I try to relax and just concentrate on my breathing and after a few minutes it seems to help

I also stress eat, that's why I have a weight problem now. Not really a sweet eats, but love Lay's potato chips, would take a bag and go to bed. Every day of my life is stressful, so I have to learn how to cope without eating, it doesn't help, it only makes matters worse because then I can't fit anything and the problems are still there.

I certainly did have way too much stress. I went for a walk and that really helped. I had a mini trampoline and would jump like crazy. Buying one of those big balls (depending on height) and sitting and jumping on it really helps as well. We are all different and get our stress relief differently but you could try it. I went out walking at 12 at night if I couldn't take it anymore!

Chew gum. It will trick your mind into thinking it's eating to ease the stress. Make sure you listen for your body's natural hunger cues.

I eat to stop pain, and when I eat starchy wheat things I binge, and get sick for a couple of days after. Good luck getting a handle on your stress eating - which I also used to do. I was taught to do nice, non-food things for myself, instead. It’s worth a try.

Don’t think on food too much. Go outside to a quiet place, relax, breath in & out and find your inner chi. Meditate to calm yourself back to a peaceful place.

I have to remind myself that I have had plenty of calories for the day, then I either for for a nice big glass of water, or if I want something warm and comforting--peppermint tea.

Thanks it helps to know that others deal with this too. And that some have found ways around it! I will try to find alternate things to do when I’m stressed - I may post myself doing this as a way of celebrating the success (that I hope I have lol). And it’s also a helpful reminder that eating too much is only going to cause more stress of being overweight. Thanks all!!
