has anyone ever had to deal with hip pain? I've been dealing with it since Octo of last year and I have had cortisone shots in my hip in my bursa and they said I bursitis. I'm going back to the Drs tomorrow . the spasms seems to be better but I can't do certain things and I can't walk for long periods and when I lay on that side it still feels like theres a golf ball in there and sometimes when I try to do things it feels like someone is twisting my muscles like a dish rag. heat makes it worse and I've done an ice pack but not sure if that helped or not. I asked him. if there was anything I could do and he was like walk.. well I tried and that made it more aggravated. any tips I would love thanks! 💝🌼

Poor dear! I know EXACTLY what you are going through! How come? I have been having hip and groin pain so bad some days I can’t get out of bed or can’t walk since June, 2017. The groin pain actually goes back a few years, but was just an annoyance, not debilitating. Jan 24th I had a cortisone shot in my right hip, injected from the belly side, so the steroid would go into the gap between the head of the femur (thigh bone) and the pelvis. All 3 docs- my orthopedist, my Rheumatologist, and my spinal pain physiatrist (who actually gave me the shot) insisted the problem was in my hip. It wasn’t. the shot) insisted

It was MY FEET. This I figured out how? By trying to walk on “good” days - which always followed a day or two of resting in bed, NOT WALKING. So in my walking, in addition to the hip and groin pain, I started to get knee pain, and something like shin splints - pain on the shin, but a little bit more to the inside, where there is some muscle. I had this problem a few years ago, and it took awhile, but I finally figured out that the outside of my heel needed to be lifted up more. So last Tuesday, I got a pain of Dr. Scholl’s jelly heel cups. I cut them in half, lengthwise, and taped them on top of the outside of my foot orthotics. Noticeably less pain!

Movement is the best thing for bursitis. It keep the joints from seizing up. Also the more you move the more the joints are lubricated. I’d suggest taking some Aleve about 30 mins before you go out and walk and then just build up slowly. I also saw something on YouTube that said Apple cider vinegar was good. I actually started trying it tonight. I figured nothing ventured nothing gained right?

So I had my husband glue them underneath the OTHER set of Dr. Scholl’s we’d glued on a couple of years ago. Now, I haven’t been able to fully test this, because I’ve been sick in bed with an earache, sore throat, and upset stomach. Either I ate something bad, or I’ve got a mild version of one of the flu bugs going around. I spoke to my doctor by phone; he put me on antibiotics. But you can bet I am going to walk as much as I can as soon as I feel better, to test this out fully! It is a big problem for me, because Medicare doesn’t cover foot orthotics under ANY circumstances. New orthotics cos $500.00!!! and I don’t even know what the office visit costs! I simply don’t have the money. OBTW - the solution may not be the same as mine - for example, you may need to lift up the INSIDE of your heel. Depends on whether you roll your foot toward the outside (supination) or INSIDE (pronation, which is more common) Why don’t you try the machine at Walmart’s-it May be all you need, and costs only about $40.00. Good luck!

Yeah I get pain in my groin and thigh too. I had a limp when I walk . I did have a heal lift in my shoe. They did take an xray of my hip and said I have a little bit of arthritis in my hip but does not bone on bone. So when they pressed on my Bursa on my side it really hurts so that's where they injected me with more cortisone but that didn't really help much either.. So not sure what will be next. Good idea to try to do stretching. I did have pain in my knee and I did get a cortisone shot in my knee as well.

Ask your Dr's for a referral to a Physical Therapist. They are very helpful.

Yoga and chiropractic treatments help with my hip pain. I have been a life long runner and have never had any knee pain but I always had hip pain. The stretch from yoga and adjustments were everything I needed.

ive had hip pain for the last ten years, I finally had to quit working, as i could no longer take the pain of ten hours a day standing on concrete! Ive been given Morphine, and methadone for the last 6 years, and am now trying to get off of all the pain meds, weight loss has relieved some pain, but its also made it so that I can soon have a hip, and knee replacements,,, if you can avoid it, please do NOT get on the hard core drugs like I did! Many States are now allowing medical marijuana My tip is, go see an orthopedic surgeon as soon as possible!

I second the physical therapy-find one that specializes in sports rehab. That makes a huge difference.

I have dealt with the exact same hip pain and discomfort and walking also went for the steroid shots in my hip. for whatever reason it was also hard for me to walk so I put tried using store bought arch supports in my shoes and it is made and 80% difference. still can't walk for long distances or a long period of time but it sure makes a difference...

I might agree with the poster Stromie - when I have had hip pain, it meant I needed the right shoes for walking, the gym, etc. Might be worth a try!

The good shoes I found cost $200 at SAS. They advised and fitted them right there in the store. I also bought compression socks. Fifty dollar inserts helped my sister, because she didn't want to spend that kind of money on shoes. (She replaces the inserts at least four times more often as I buy new shoes.) Hip pain, knee pain, and planer fasciitis ended without meds and surgery. I can walk again! It looks like a chunk of money, but it was sooo worth it!

Thanks everyone for there ideas!!! I wear new balance sneakers. I will def look for new arch support for the heal this week sometime. I went to my Orthopedics today. In 3 weeks he's gonna give.me another around of cortisone shot. And he said that should do it. Told me some stretch exercises I can do. So I'm hoping I can lose some weight before hand.

Hi A few years ago I had terrible hip pain also. I had it injected once and did PT which helped. Soon after I found out I had a lot of arthritis in my back and that was the cause! Ultimately I found a great pain management anaesthesiologist who performed two pain blacks on me! That was over 6 yrs ago. That is when I started doing Pilates on a reformer. I love it! Give it a try and hope for the best!
