Cammy Jo's Journal, 06 Feb 18

I am relatively new to this program, and I have lost 5 pounds since starting it, and I love the online community. I have been counting my calories; however, typical of me, at some point, I start eating more calories each day. Over the last two days, I have been craving chocolate and banana cream pie and I have been indulging myself.

Hi Cammy Jo. One thing that I find helps me is to eat fruit (apples and grapes are my favorite) before I crave something sweet. It will cost some calories, but not nearly as much as a banana cream pie :-)

Make your own healthy icecream. Freeze some bananas and chuck one in a strong blender. At a spoonful of cocoa powder in for chocolate icecream :)

Another option. Slice a banana and saute it in a bit of butter and toss in a few raisins. Cooking the banana makes them tastes amazing and is satisfies that craving. You can do the same with apples or pears.

Regarding chocolate, I keep a bar of dark chili-chocolate on hand. If I crave chocolate, I allow myself one square (48 calories) for the day. The chili provides a bite so I don't really like it much but satifies my craving. I do not eat milk chocolate! It's a no-no for me. Also, I record absolutely everything I eat so I see the results of my binging. I used to binge, but hardly ever do now. The less sugar you eat, the easier it gets.

The less wheat you eat the better. What ever they used to modify the wheat grain to make it bigger makes YOU bigger too. It attaches to the opiate receptors - yes opiate - and make you feel hungry again (crave food) sooner and sooner, so you wind of on a binge to try and satisfy that feeling. The more you eat, the more you want. It's an addiction.

All great advice and see great tips. But sometimes it helps to satisfy your cravings (within reason) to avoid a bigger binge later. Don't beat yourself up too much! 😘
