Day #4 of no sweeteners. Hate this experiment....Induction was a piece of cake compared to this.

Walked 3.1 miles this AM with DH and doggies; felt SO sluggish and plodding, I really didn't want to go, but DH laid an unintended guilt trip on me, so off we all went. Afterward, I was feeling better and very happy I went.

Today, I'm a bit more on schedule as far as eating is concerned and I'm hopeful of keeping my overall calories more in line. I'm not battling hunger as much today, so that's a good thing.

DH and I have already decided that this no-sweetener experiment will END after 1 week. We're both missing beverages other than water as well as foods that contain sweeteners. But the big issue is that neither of us is seeing any big change in weight loss. For these last couple days, I'm going to attempt to put my calories back into line with where I had been prior to starting this week, while keeping carbs extra-low, and see if the absence of sweeteners makes a difference. So far, the only difference I've seen is that my mood has been awful and I'm constantly tired and hungry.

Rest of the journal entry is non-WOE-related....

Yesterday marked my first swimming day of the season! Had a fantastic time, once I got used to the water. It's about 82-83 degrees which sounds really warm, but I like it best at about 86-89! But once I got moving around, it felt perfect!

My Lab gal began to play with me from the deck, but I got her to hop in with me. She actually knows how to swim....does an excellent job....will even swim laps with me. But since we've moved here, she hasn't done much swimming, probably because Collie guy wants her to play with HIM and keeps pestering her to do so.

Well, yesterday, he was otherwise occupied, so she and I could get some swim time in. She nearly forgot the best way to swim, as her first foray into the deeper water left her paddling overly hard with her head quite high in the water. But, after another attempt, she finally settled into her more relaxed paddle and seemed to be enjoying herself. She did a couple laps and I felt that was enough for the day.

Where we used to live, once she got the hang of swimming, I used to have to leave her inside when I swam laps. If I left her out, every time I'd get near the end, she's launch herself out into the water toward me and, a few times, I came close to having a Lab land on my head! I think she thought I needed rescuing or something! But then, she'd swim as many laps as I did.....if I would have let her, which I didn't.

The funniest (???) part of the evening came when Collie guy decided to lounge in the shallow "play" area....about 9-12" deep. He actually lays down in the water, taking care to keep his tail elevated out of the water. He hopped out of the pool and DH said, "Now don't go rolling in the dirt or anything..."

Well, you guessed it! That goofy guy headed on out into the yard and found the one area of dirt, rather than grass, and did a nosedive right on into the dirt, rolling around in the dirt, swishing his muzzle from side to side in the dirt, etc.!! What a mess!

So, I had to get back into the pool and entice him to get back into that shallow area and try to get the dirt and sand off of him. Then, it was time for many towels to come out and get him reasonably dried off.

Today, I also went swimming late this afternoon. Needless to say, my Collie guy wasn't even allowed outside! Not ready for a repeat performance!

LOL - so funny, I could picture 'collie guy' rolling in the dirt. Such simple pleasures animals enjoy! Good for you for giving up artificial sweetner for a week, don't think I would want to try that!

You won't hate it when it is over Sandy - it will taste so nasty to you that you'll wonder how you ever ate the stuff!

There's always natural sweeteners. Lo Han (sometimes, Luo Han Guo) doesn't have that really sweet taste like Stevia or the artificial sweeteners. I love it. I buy mine at Vitacost, but I know they have it at VitaminShoppe.
