AuntieJan's Journal, 16 Jan 12

Well here we are in the new year, and I finally have made the time to sit down and journal. So much going on.

Christmas was awesome and I enjoyed myself a little too much. I gained some weight back, not only from the many social gatherings (even though I didn't go completely nuts), but from having almost zero time to plan ahead. Weak excuse I know, but I am right back on track again and looking forward to meeting more goals over the course of the year.

Nomad continues to take up a big part of my life, and I am loving the bonds and community spirit we all share. The Christmas play was awesome and we sold out all three nights, this year we will have to add more showings/days I think. Very creative people I now call my family.

We have been incredibly busy at the store and we had a really good Christmas season, hopefully we will continue to make the figures and then some. It can be a bit stressful at times but it is a really great job that is very rewarding, and even though it's just part-time, it is a source of reliable income that has been a great blessing.

I have signed up for a fitness challenge at Nomad called "Biggest Loser-Nomad". For those not in the USA you may not be familiar with the show where incredibly large people drop incredibly large amounts of weight in incredibly short periods of time, while being barked at by drill sargeant fitness trainers and participating in all kinds of weird physical challenges. Well, that's not Nomad style. Yes it is a fitness challenge, and we do have teams, and yes there will be friendly trash-talking, but the point is accountability and to have some fun while getting fit with friends. Yes we also weigh-in weekly, you may choose not to reveal your weight to anyone other than the team leader, but I think once people start losing they will share. We have done our initial weigh-ins and the challenge officially startsthe first weekend of February. I want to win! I am on Team Green, which I like because it rhymes with LEAN! LOL

On other happenings, I am going to be in another 5k at the end of the month, called the speedway 5k. It is held at the Daytona International Speedway the weekend that race weeks start, and you actually are on the track of the speedway along with 1000 of your closest friends.... LOL. My friend Lori and perhaps her husband and a few others will be doing it together. It will be fun!

I have been walking the causeways here again, but now I have been walking with some of my fellow Nomads and it's different than doing it alone. Going in the morning before work.

Well that's about it for now although there's lots more going on, I'll keep it for another entry.

I wish everyone a wonderful year, working towards our goals and meeting them, and sharing our worlds together.

Peace.

Fantastic.... You have got back on track, with so many different exercise projects going on. Glad you had a good Christmas.... Great to have lots of festive gatherings - but it does play havoc with our new "lifestyle".... But that's life - and life is for living.

Nice that you have company to exercise with - and good for you training for the 5K. Curious about he Speedway - will you be on the circle track or on the drag strip? The reason I'm asking is that if you have never stood on a circle track you'd be shocked at the slope of the embankment. Was kind of wondering how they were going to pull that off?

You're right Skinny, havoc is right, but you do have to live life. Christmas is one of those times, LOL

Hey Buffy - I am not sure if the 5k goes thru the infield or just stays around the main track, but you are right about the embankment- it is steep, about 30º in places. However, there is plenty of space at the bottom (apron) where it levels off, so that's where most people walk. I will take pictures and share them!
