Is That Really Me in That Photo??!!!
I was a smoker. At 2007 my husband got Pyoderma Gangrenosuem. It is auto-immune related. He has Crohn's and this was a rare condition that affects auto-immune patients. It was an ever growing wound on his ankle that took 2 years and many treatments to get closed. Finally we found Hyperbaric Oxygen as a treatment. We both quit smoking learning that the oxygen level would play a BIG role in him finally healing.
I was 38 and skinny. Always had been skinny. Hell I would eat ice cream for dinner without a worry....before. Quickly I started to gain weight. Quitting cigarettes, selling our home, moving to another state, husband bound to a chair for 2 years. I am sure all of those things played a role. No matter how many sizes I went up, I still never considered myself 'fat'.
2014 Hysterectomy, Then more weight, 165-EEEK. Oh well. Later 2014 Gallbladder-actually dropped a few. Then I teetered between 158-162. I am only 5'2". I grew accustomed of being boarder line 'obese'. Just words.
THEN I SAW THE PHOTO. Holy Crap, those are MY arms, that is MY double chin.
So 5 1/2 weeks in on Atkins and down 13 lbs. Not bad. I am 145.8.
Now I'am getting used to 'you look like you lost weight' or 'don't drink that it will ruin your diet'. Sometimes I wish people would ignore MY diet plan and worry about themselves. Opinions are hard, being that 38 of my 45 years I was the skinny girl who never had to worry.
I am proud of myself, but still coming to grips that I am one of the chubby chicks. Coming to grips that my metabolism has changed and they way I eat will change forever. BUT still proud. My words of advice, stick to it. If this former skinny girl who took her weight for granted can do it, so can YOU.
