Kenna Morton's Journal, 14 May 24

I’m out and about, wandering through the beautiful state of Michigan. Had alligator for lunch yesterday. No real taste of its own— initial texture reminded me of shrimp that was just a little overdone then as I chewed it had the texture of — chicken. I have eaten some strange foods in my life, like rats, snakes and the bottom line is that most things you could actually mistake for chicken if they are cooked,

Yikes. I think I will just stick with chicken though I am not real crazy about it. Meat is okay but I have to eat it.

I've only had it once in Cocoa Beach, but the texture in my opinion was more in line of lobster kind of crossed with that of eel. The flavor almost reminiscent of catfish with a buttery finish mine was deep fried though which may have altered the flavor prepared with salt pepper and seasoning blend of some sort as well as breaded.

That is one I've never eaten but I agree with you in that most stuff like that tastes like chicken...😀

I’ve eaten all of the exotic foods you mentioned. There is a, Cicada Festival in St. Louis. They will be serving cicadas a few different ways. Turn out they are in the same category of shrimp. Still deciding if I can try them. Kind of creepy!

Yeah, I've eaten rattlesnake and it tasted like chicken, with a hint of fish.

I did not know that the Cicada was an edible item. As our food supply becomes difficult down the line (not to far away) we need to become more open to alternative sources of protein
