Overbought silken tofu, so it's smoothie time: tofu, soymilk, frozen blackberries, frozen banana slices, and flaxseed meal. Plenty of protein and fiber to start the day

I love tofu smoothies! I overbought spinach on Wednesday, I should make a smoothie with it.

I always prefer pretty smoothies, Morticia 😉 I have frozen berries I need to start using up, and the blackberries are so good for fiber. Buenitabishop -- it was pretty tasty, indeed! 😁

sheryl -- I've put a lot of greens that were nearer the end than the beginning in smoothies 😂 I usually buy the power greens. They seem to hold up better than the baby spinach, and they work cooked as well as raw, unlike the spring mix

I just started flaxseed powder 1 tablespoon. I put it in my oatmeal. Hated that. Then mixed with 2 T water and fried it. Hated that. Then just sucked it up tonight and mixed with 1T water and swallowed it. Can you taste it in either texture or taste in a smoothie? That may be a way to go. Was going to research different ideas for it. Nutritionist recommended i try for healthy gut/bowels.

YOH, I have had it in smoothies and it's not too bad.

The only thing I've noticed about it in smoothies is that it makes the blender slightly more difficult to clean. We also incorporate it in baked goods. I have a recipe somewhere for little flaxmeal bites that are basically a nut butter or peanut butter + flax meal + molasses or honey. (We like molasses.) What is it you don't like about it? Taste? Texture? Both?

Both n. Can u send me the flax meal bites recipe please?

Knowing what I know of your WOE, these might not be a good fit, but here goes. Combine 1 cup peanut butter or nut butter of your choice, 3/4 cup milk of your choice, 1 Tbsp vanilla, 1/2 cup molasses or honey, and 1 Tbsp cinnamon and mix well. Add 1 1/2 cups flaxseed meal, 2/3 cups chopped pecans, and 2/3 cups raisins and mix. Divide into 24 muffin cups and bake at 325 for 26ish minutes. Ovens vary, so I'd start checking at about 20 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes before removing. For your first foray, I'd probably halve this recipe to see if you like them -- this was a double of the original recipe that I tweaked a bit. They do pack a caloric punch (about 150 per) that you could probably cut by skipping the pecans and raisins. You do get 1 tablespoon flax in each one

If smoothies or these don't make it palatable enough for you, could you ask the nutritionist what specifically it is about flax that she believes will help? You might be able to find an alternate food that provides the same benefits, but that you like better.

I'm thinking maybe chia seed for an alternate. It offers the fiber and Omega-3s. I do love a good chocolate chia pudding, and you can always use stevia to sweeten to limit carbs and calories

Writing i forgot to answer you-it’s to help with my bowel movements. Im dangerously close to being constipated. Her words. But true. Been fighting with this issue since surgery 2022. Thats why.

YOH -- lemme know if it works. I struggle with it myself. Whether it's medication side effects, dietary choices or an inherited wonky gut, not certain. When I was trying to do Dr. Greger's Daily Dozen, I was doing a tablespoon a day, but I've gotten away from that. Hope you find a way to make it work!

Interesting. My husband always has that problem. He takes 3 magnesium citrate but still needs more of something.
