DairyKing's Journal, 06 Dec 15

Good Morning, FS Warriors. I apologize for not being on here for a while. I had no idea just how time consuming these college courses would be. I know that college before was very demanding, but for some reason I thought that biblical studies couldn't be that tough; I know my bible pretty good. Wrong! We went to Branson last week for the Thanksgiving holiday, and I was up until midnight every night getting homework done. Been preparing for our nursing home Christmas show, and just plain getting ready for retirement. Only 9 more actual working days. I call them working days, but really I have already passed the torch to one of my Direct Reports. He probably knows more about the job than I do; just not as clever as me. :D

So far, in preparation for putting in the Endless Pool, I have broken up the concrete floor along the inside of the perimeter of the room, dug a 2 foot wide trench, laid gravel and drain pipe and installed a sump pump. Finished spreading another final layer of gravel over the drain pipe yesterday, and hauled fifty 80 lb. bags of concrete downstairs. I also hauled the powered concrete mixer downstairs so I can mix and pour the floor from inside. That way, I don't have to worry about what the weather is doing outside.

I came back from Branson weighing in at 256 pounds - the heaviest I have ever been. I'm about 249 now. Nobody's fault but my own. I have just not exercised any restraint in my eating at all, until the beginning of this last week - again. Today the church is putting another feed on today - a combination of Christmas and Thanksgiving holiday meals. I admit that I am really looking forward to the turkey, dressing and gravy. Why? Because my wife has cooked them and I know it's good. Haha. The church is also preparing ham, and of course, everyone will be bringing covered dishes. Yes, it's hard to lose weight during the holidays, but I'm still committed to doing so.

Well, my friends, I have missed you guys. I think I've got my routine down now. Even though I think I'm going to be very active during my retirement, I plan on doing those things in moderation as well. So, I think I'll be more consistent in my journalling again. I hope everyone is having a great weekend, and not putting yourselves in harm's way during this holiday shopping season. God Bless! Toodles!

Yay! Glad to hear from you DK!! My weight went sky high, too ... and I am back trying to get a grip on things ... and yes, it's going to be a challenge this time of the year....but, it's downhill all the way, right? My hubby was counting the days, too. He has been retire for 3 months now and happy as can be. God Bless!
