Bionici's Journal, 02 Feb 24

It is absolutely gorgeous in middle TN. After about a week of snow & ice in which my wife & I were stuck indoors with no way to get out of our driveway, the weather is somewhat back to normal. Actually, better than normal. Today will be in the mid 60's where average highs are generally in the upper 40s to low 50s. We have been blessed that we did not experience any MAJOR difficulties during that week. We did blow out a tire last Sunday, and had to have it replaced. That's very minor in comparison to some families that lost power & heat. We definitely have been blessed.

During the holiday season, we had family in twice for several days, and by January 1 I had gained 12 pounds. It was a stretch, but all of that extra 12 pounds is gone. The weight is finally below 200 (barely). For me, that is a lot of weight to gain and then lose in 1 month considering where it started in November 2018. The goal was set high, and it was accomplished. The next goal is to lose 5 more by the end of February. It is a birthday month with 2 weekend road trips to see our daughters and granddaughters, so there will be dinners and birthday cake.

After weighing, I told my wife I was at 199.8. She kind of laughed (frustratedly), and said she weighed 147 today. She's 5'8" and wants to stay at 150, and 147 is only 17 pounds above what she weighed when we were married almost 52 years ago. Thing is, she knows how statistically oriented I am (accountant & manager during my career, etc...), and generally prepares our meals so we eat healthy. So, she loses weight without trying because I try to lose weight. I am sure it is frustrating to her.

My exercise routine has been primarily cardiovascular since the hernia operation a couple of years ago. This week more stretches and weight training were added back. I found that much of my upper body strength was depleted especially in my arms. So, somewhat lighter weights were added with more reps to start. Stretches are not an issue, but I found some areas that had been neglected especially in my legs. Found that toe touches are gone. Lots of work to do.

Hope everyone is having a great February, and are still not affected by that massive system that came through in late January. Everyone keep focused, keep exercising, and keep losing / maintaining your weight. God is good !!
