When you starve yourself the brain will make you crave processed carbs and sweets because that is his preferred fuel. If you eat a balanced meal and are not hungry you will not have cravings, only the habit will stay of eating something sweet for an example after a meal or while watching TV. When changing our lifestyle we try to kick out are bad habits which works if we are persistant.

You crave processed carb, especially sugar when you starve yourself because it will be the quickest way to raise low blood sugar levels. It is then a cycle. When your insulin kicks in, stores fat, lowers your blood sugar and you're hungry again.
