Looking back over the previous month,...Life is good !! Two doctor reports were super. It was a decent month from an exercise standpoint for me. 390+ miles were put on the recumbent bike which is about the distance from Nashville to Chicago. 6 rounds of golf were played with an average score of 78. Yes, I took a cart, but walked many of the holes. And finally, my feet & legs pushed out 335000+ steps during October. Weight-wise, the body dropped 1 pound, but I'll take it. The other side of that is that I dropped 4 pounds and gained back 3 by the end of month due to some larger and more unhealthy meal choices toward the end of the month. It happens for all of us. Overall though, it was a good month. One should not take their health for granted, as I did for many, MANY years. Age, injuries, and choices affect all of us eventually, sometimes immediately. I am truly thankful for my wife (an RN) being there when all of these areas affected both of us. She is a great help and support. We, for the most part, eat very healthy meals, exercise, and try to live our lives in moderation. Maybe her, more than me. I am more of a risk taker, and she keeps us in an even keel. OK, I've rambled. It is time to prep for the upcoming Thanksgiving holidays & meals, and be EXTRA good for the next 3+ weeks. Gotta get this body & mind in a focused mode. BTW, everyone keep focused, keep exercising, and keep losing / maintaining the weight. The Holidays are coming. The best for everyone of us on FS. God is good. !!

I am trying to make sound plans for the holidays. Don't want to gain weight.

MorticiaAddams, the holidays and family visits are always an issue for me from a calorie standpoint. Thanksgiving & Christmas time are especially difficult. The food is SO good, and the amounts available are so overwhelming for the 4 - 7 days everyone is together. My father used to complain about the same thing. He always said he gained 5 - 7 pounds when he came to visit Shirley and me, and then had to work really hard to get it off. But, he certainly enjoyed the time and food while with us. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
