Decided to try an experiment... I have a few these 1L glass juice containers around. I wrapped it in an insulative foil/air space product, leftovers from doing my 3D printer enclosure... that is Gorilla Tape holding it all together. It is far superior to just glass, or any of those insulated plastic containers I have tried.
I have found that water loves to absorb the plastic 'flavour' once a bottle is opened and exposed to air. I drink a fair bit of water per day, around 4L or 5L @ $0.75 to $1/L... hard to keep track of all the ice cubes I use in a day, to get a more accurate measurement. I am fortunate to have collected several 4L glass jars with lids, so I can get my water in a plastic container at the grocer's, then immediately put it into glass containers for the fridge. Currently I keep 10L in the fridge and 8L as backup, it goes fast since it is also used for the ice cubes. One thing I am really loving, the water can sit in the glass, get warm, and not get yucky tasting... the tap water does, and honestly it doesn't taste that great to begin with.
It actually got to where I was making a sound of disgust, when I took a drink of water, that reaction has now ceased.
My stomach is taking it's time getting over the inflamation, but is far better now, than when I was drinking the tap water. I do have an email in to our local Environmental Health Office requesting samples be taken... will see what response I get.
FYI the glass is a Vintage 1962 Seattle World's Fair (Souvenir Glass) I am drinking out of.
